Title: Bally s6000 Progressive C1 and 0200 message???
Post by: hemiroid on February 02, 2017, 12:54:02 AM
New to me Bally [told it was a s6000] Progressive "reel" slot machine.  From the reels down it seems to work great.  My goal is to get the Progressive working as well.  You can see from the pics I am getting 2 messages, the C1 I understand is a communication error, I don't find anything on the 0200 message, if that is a message?

The OP [original purchaser] couldn't tell me if the progressive display ever worked for him?  He did tell me he has hit the progressive a few times?  So did it work or didn't it work?  Hmmm...  I am going to assume that the Progressive worked as a stand alone when he bought it.  I know the company he got it from and they do not send out equipment that behaves like this.

He told me the battery on the mainboard went dead and he replaced it.  He needed to borrow the chips to do a SAFERAM clear after replacing the battery.

I don't find any mention of why my Progressive display would flash 0200...

I did find mention of a C1, it means what, there is a communication error?  All the necessary wires seems to be attached so any direction you can offer would be much appreciated.

[UPDATE:  Display settings must have been lost because of a battery issue in the Mikohn.  The C1 did not go away until I set up my Mikohn with the PSP software.  The 0200 changed once I told the Mikohn to use $$$$ in the F7 of the psp program.]

FYi I checked the battery on the progressive board and it measured about 3 volts.

Would I need to re-set the progressive using PSP after a safeRAM???

[UPDATE: With the SAFERam clear chips I did both a PARTIAL and COMPLETE clear on my s6000 and it had no effect on the settings on the Mikohn board]

The bottom Progressive display is blank???

[UPDATE: The bottom display was blank I believe because with the battery issue all settings were back to default and default is for one display and not two.  Once I set the display settings on the Mikohn board to 2 displays the bottom display came to life.]

Also the top light on the candle is flashing on and off.  I'm not sure if that might be related to the progressive issue?  When I got the slot machine the red CHANGE button was in pieces.  After playing with it [wiggling it around] from the inside the light quit flashing so maybe I and in need of a button replacement...

[UPDATE: I believe the candle was flashing because the printer paper was loaded upside down?]

Thank you in advance for any direction you can offer...

Your Comm error C1 is most likely your settings in the 11d menu. get the manual here   http://slot-tech.com/interesting_stuff/bally/Bally%20S6000/  (http://slot-tech.com/interesting_stuff/bally/Bally%20S6000/)
Get the PDF file.

Thanks for the reply LINDAM!!!

I got brave and got into the Machine Options in the #11 diagnostic menu.  [I have never had a Bally before!]  I first went through all the options and recorded where mine were set.  I'm gonna guess they were all set to default after the OP did a what he called a safeRAM Clear?

I don't have a clue what the OP did or didn't do and if the Progressive ever did work so my next thought is I need to get the PSP software and make a cable to connect to my progressive controller to make sure it is set up correct.  Sound like a plan?

Just an FYI you need to safe ram clear every time you change the 09 setting. Start with 09 set to 0005. The progressive more than likely need programmed also. Scott

Thanks pbwizard...

I have a set of safe ram chips ordered and on the way.  Figured I'd need them someday.  Might be sooner than I thought.

If the OP changed the round battery on the progressive board would that cause the progressive to forget, or lose its settings/memory?

I obtained a copy of the psp software.  I need to come up with a cable to link the computer and progressive board.

I have reorganized the spaghetti in the top cabinet and traced all the wiring.  As far as I can tell it is all accounted for.  My progressive board is labeled:

341-075-05 CSTLR STND ALONE (BLY) H0173863 (2)

I decode that as stand alone.  Any other information I need to decode off any of this?  There is a power cable, a cable runs to the backplane and there are 2 ribbon cables to the displays in the top glass.

The displays in the top glass each have a power cable and ribbon cable running to each.  There are 2 places on each display for the ribbon cables to run to, one on each end of the displays.  Does it matter which is used?  Mine where both attached to the same side, or right side as you view the top glass from the backside.  I did notice that one ribbon cable is shorter than the other.  Does that have any significance or did someone just use what they had?

When I first start up the slot machine it talks the Bally copyright to me and the there are settings displayed on the top display before it settles on 0200 and C1.

The bottom display does nothing.

Yes it matters what side the ribbon cable goes to. The right side should be the correct one the other you will get nothing.  Your settings that you see at start up need a couple adjustments. Yes if the battery was changed on the mikohn board it will need to be set up and reprogrammed. I can get the settings for you if noone else chimes in . I am out of town today and can get them tomorrow if still needed. You will need to make yourself up a cable for the psp. Scott

Thank you again pbwizard, Scott...

I found a link on the old site that might really apply to my new-to-me slot.  This could be my slot machine being discussed.  http://newlifegames.net/nlg/index.php?PHPSESSID=643033f5651438bc1a4dca63692a453f&topic=6738.0 (http://newlifegames.net/nlg/index.php?PHPSESSID=643033f5651438bc1a4dca63692a453f&topic=6738.0)  I have PSP v2 up and running on my old Toshiba laptop running DOS 6.11.  I have DB9 ends ordered.  Expected Monday?  I stole these settings from that old page on the old site.  I am hoping they are close enough to get me working?

Any opinions on these settings and my getting both progressive displays to display?

[NOTE: See last post (Lucky post 13) for corrected Bally Dual Progressive s6000 settings.]

It all looks good except the sa setting may have to be sa0 with v2.11 . I also switch my size to 60. Other than that all looks good.

Topic solved!  Thank you very much!!  Both progressives are working!!!  You can teach an oLd DoG a NeW tRiCk after all...

My suspicion is that the OP did not change the "button" battery on the progressive board so I might need to do this all over once again.

I got and read just about everything Bally, Micohn and Cham in the NLG file system.  Then the light bulb went on and it all made sense.  I couldn't have done it without you guys steering me in the right direction.

The next test will be getting it all put back together, cycle it on and off a few times and see if it all continues to work.

These are the settings I settled on to get both progressive screens to work.  I never had any sound when I hit a win on the 4th or 5th coin.  Now on those wins i get the bell.

After 2 weeks I had some fine tuning to do to my settings and I added a TITO @ Home to my Dual Progressive Bally 6000.  Everything is now functioning like I expect.

Most of the posts on NLG relate to a single Progressive slot machine.  Both of my progressive displays showed the SAME information, the $ value of the first progressive.  It took a while but I realized that I needed to set up two progressive jackpots [F6] in PSP and in the Mikohn display setting [JP GRP] for both displays to show the correct $ value.

All of my corrected setting are below in the attached pdf files for anyone that might need them some time down the road.

I set the first progressive to grow 5¢ per coin bet and the second to grow 3¢ per coin bet.  You have the option to program that higher or lower with the PSP software in F6 when you setup your jackpot information in JP0 and JP1.

While the TITO pinout might not really belong here in the Mikohn section i felt it was important to keep all this information together.  Anyone that does a search in the archives will locate it.

Thanks to all who chimned in to help!!!
