Title: Bally 6000 Monte Carlo 77 Code
Post by: keystone9 on March 31, 2017, 07:49:43 AM
I am working on a Bally 6000 Monte Carlo. I have the game up and running. The whole game is open to work on it meaning the top box and top reel controller board box. I can play the game and it works fine with the top box wheel (the spinning ball wheel) removed. As soon as I put the top box reel back on it goes to a 77 error code and spins backwards. I took notice that the green LED on the top reel control board is not lit. Anyone with any ideas? Thanks. Bill.

I've had the wheel sensor on the bonus wheel go bad, also had the little 3 wire plug on the front of the MPU go bad.

After putting this Monte Carlo aside for a while I decided to take another look at it. What is happening is that the game plays great and everything works as it should until I get a "spin to win", at that point the top box spinner starts spinning but when the spinner stops on the win amount the game goes into a 77 error code. I have checked and double checked everything from bent pins to re seating chips, to checking connections but still haven't been able to track down the problem. I am thinking I don't have a setting correct? Maybe a bad board? Could be something simple I'm missing. Any help would be appreciated.

Monte's can be a pain in the ass to setup
been down this road before with the 77 error
but from my notes on this error check the following.

If you are using any 7-07 main or older you must use a RCU-00 chip in the top box. Also Dip Bank 1 switch 4 & 6 must be turned off.

If you are using any main 7-08 or higher you must use a RCU-02 chip in the top box. Also Dip Bank 1 switch 5 must be turned off.

If you have another top reel driver board you might try swapping it out

Make sure cable running into the front of the mpu is fully seated
not pinched or broken somewhere,as mentioned above.

U24 should also be removed from the mpu.

Been along time since I messed with these
but was always a learning experience .

I don't frequent this site much anymore but
Good Luck.Tim

I just found the pdf with setup, parts and schematics
but file is to large to attach here.
If you need it pm me your email.

Thanks for the reply Tim. I will check out all of your info in the next couple of days when I get time to get back to the game. Bill.

I have finally tracked it down to the top wheel board being bad. Seems like all the cooling fans in the top box were not working and as all the heat from the game rises and destroys the spinning wheel board. Thanks to all that helped me out. Bill.
