Title: Back in it...
Post by: brichter on December 08, 2017, 12:54:37 AM
I fired up my S+ and Vision tonight, hadn't turned them on in 4-5 years. Work and life got in the way, and since I'm moving in a couple weeks or a month, I figured I'd better find out where I was at with them.

Had to replace batteries in both machines, lucky the Vision was a 500 board! I didn't need a replacement for the 3.6v battery that was growing hair on the main board, just unsoldered the old one and slid in a new CR2032, cleared the RAM errors, and away she went! The S+ was a bit tougher, had to solder in the new battery (after I finally found the one I bought 4 years ago and had put in a safe place so I wouldn't lose it!  :rotfl: ), but the progressive isn't working and it's throwing a C1, so it needs a new battery too!

It felt good to throw a few hundred credits on them and pull the handles a few times!  :applause:

10 Attaboys for the first responder that can tell me what's wrong with this picture!  :Scratch-Head:

There are no ear speakers on the vision machine and there does not appear to be any way to change the denomination on it although it is set up for 5 or 10 cent play. Sticker says 25 cents.

Sticker also says play 2 coins. 3 coins played in the display. Looks like play 2 credits on the large button.

other than what was mentioned above, the progressive number looks different, and the reels in the vision look different,  looks like the red seven reel is from a chainsaw and toasters reel set ???

the original vision series machine did not have "ear type speakers"  they were built in to the same strip as the molding. there was a grill and some sort of plastic funnel that sent the sound out to the player.

Visions did not come with ear speakers, those were on the S2000. I looked into upgrading these, but there's a lot of work to be done to retrofit.

You're correct about the denomination, I don't have a $ .05 denomination sticker yet. :cool_thumb_up: 5 Attaboys for you, sir!

There's a bigger issue than that, though...

DING DING DING! We have a winner! They are indeed the wrong reel strips in the Vision game, those are my C&T strips. The DD strips are visible on top of the Vision cabinet.

The issue with the progressive is due to the dead battery mentioned above, I need to get a new battery ordered so I can set it up.

10 Attaboys for you, and 5 Attaboys each for qbert and Shaggy for noticing the denomination and coin issues! I actually have a "Play 3 coins" label around here somewhere, hopefully I find then when I'm packing before or unpacking after the move. I swapped the "Play x Coins" buttons last night before going to bed, so they are correct now.

I also have a couple Mikhon Supreme displays (a 1x3 and a 2x3) and a Con2 that I will try to use to drive them once I get everything set up after the move. All this stuff is slowly starting to come back to me... :cool_thumb_up:

If you have a CHAMII+ progressive controller it has a rechargeable battery soldered onto the controller board.  You just need to leave it turned on for awhile to recharge it and then reprogram it.

That's what I thought as well... but it's been on for 4 days and still loses everything when I power it off. I may have killed it by leaving it off for so long.  :fryingpan:

Replace that Panasonic rechargeable battery on the chamii.
I found after I did this the machine will hold it's memory for months. Before that it wouldn't last two weeks without losing everything.

Not unless you want a couple of lifetime supplies of them.  The minimum order is $100 now and I think they still have their infamous mysterious shipping charges!

Yes, I've fallen victim to their Mystery Shipping (or is that Haywire Shipping?  ) before! I didn't know they had a $100 minimum now, though, just another reason to keep them off the supplier list.  :talktothehand:
