Title: Problem accessing setup menu - Alpha 2 Pro v22/22
Post by: dailey on July 29, 2020, 10:31:49 AM
I just got an Alpha 2 Pro v22/22 and I'm not familiar with it. How do I access the setup/operator menu ? I just want to view it to become familiar with the settings. When I open the belly door and press the white test button on the MPU, nothing happens. Door switch is not bypassed. Open door is displayed on monitor. Am I doing something wrong ?

MPU:  Alpha 2.1 M  226458-2000
OS 362

Which open door?  On my V22/22 lowering the belly door does not automatically open the main door switch.  My main door switch is a button on the lower left side that is pulled up to close the switch.  I have to push it down to open the main door switch.  You have to have main door open for the white switch to do anything.

There are two door switches that must be open for the white test button to work.  Belly door switch on left and mpu door switch in the center above the cpu.

On my cabinet, it is just the one switch.  I'm thinking both switches are wired to the same switch, or the switches are in-line?  I'll have to go look at my cabinet.  On my V32 pro, there's also only one switch.  How weird.  Do you actually get an indication that there are two open doors when you do yours mark?  In my case "Open door M" is the only message.

Yes. Belly switch gives open door B, MPU door switch gives open door M.

Rick, It will still let me into menu if I close the belly door switch.

Ok, so only the main door is required.  My belly door switch, as I looked into it, has a push/pull switch that is pulled closed.  That is why I never bothered with it.  I only actuate the main door on these cabinets.

I opened the bottom and middle door, then I was able to enter the menu. Problem solved.  A strange thing occurred though in booting up. The machine had no sound and no error messages. I rebooted and now it's ok. Is this just some kind of glitch in the bootup ?  I'm switching power with a surge protector power strip.

Thanks for the assistance. I wish all my problems could be so simple.

I've never experienced that before.  The sound system is a digital coax cable going to an amp board whose volume level is controlled via USB.  The only way the sound is out, typically is because the amp is not working.  For whatever reason, your amp board did no power up correctly.  If it is a "one of" then I wouldn't bother with it.  If this is something that happens frequently, I would look to make sure the cable that connects the sound to the amp board is not damaged and possibly look at getting another amp board if the cable is not the issue.

Is the sheet metal MPU door removed on both your guys machines?  You should not have to open the middle door C to get to get to the setup menu as long as you can unlock the MPU door thru a hole in the players panel.

I removed that door a long time ago.  I have it put away just in case I sell the machine one day and the other owner wants it.
