Title: Mikohn Power supply issues
Post by: allen84 on October 14, 2014, 12:55:18 PM
Hello Folks,

So my power supply for the Mikohn progressive no longer works.  There is no power to the Mikohn ChamII board.  I tested the board on one of my 2nd working power supply and the board is ok.

I tested and found out that some of the electrolytic capacitors may need to be replaced in the bad power supply.

I also noticed from the Cham II+ user manual where it lists the power pinouts and the harness uses +12 VDC, +5 VDC, Ground, and -12 VDC.

Would it it be possible (and is it ok?) to use a standard PC ATX power supply as an alternate to power my Mikohn progressive again?  I noticed the ATX connector and some molex connectors also have the same +12 VDC and +5 VDC sources as well.

I checked the Mikohn harness and it only uses the power from +12 VDC, +5 VDC, and Ground row connections.  (nothing using the -12 VDC row)

Would an ATX power supply work to power the Mikohn progressive?  Or should I say would it be safe to use?   I am wondering if there is anyone out there has any experience doing something like this.

Please let me know?

Thanks!

I have two or three chami's powered with old ATX computer ps.
No problem at all. If you want a replacement check with Rudydeals I think he has them for a reasonable price.
