Title: Anyone here ever shipped Lithium Battery's? It's expensive!!
Post by: Amechanic on October 18, 2014, 04:06:45 PM
I was wondering if anyone here has shipped Lithium Battery's? I was shocked when I went to ship a Ni-Cad for an older Bally and a 1/2AA Lithium to a member here on NLG a while back and found it could only go ground because of the 1/2 AA Lithium. First class airmail would have only cost $2-3, but because of the lithium battery it cost over $6 to go ground and took over a week to get to it destination. My question is, can anyone give me a cheaper option? I have a large amount of the 1/2 AA Lithiums I wanted to sell, but at these shipping cost, I don't know now..

I do not think those would be a problem just do not ship more than a few to any one person at a time. and use a box, and wrap so they do not short circuit.

I think they are worried about people shipping laptop battery packs since those seem to be the ones that have get hot when you look at them wrong.

I can remember a while back Apple, HP, Compaq all having overheating issues with them.

Yea I remember when the computers were causing fires. From what I was told, any Lithium battery has to be shipped by ground only?? I even noticed that when your buying new battery's from a supplier that they state that they must be shipped ground transport only. I don't have a problem with ground except for the cost, 2-3 time the cost of first class air mail.. I thought about not saying it was a lithium battery, but my luck they would check the package..
