You must have some passion for it, or maybe you would not be interested in this site and visiting here.  I too work in the coin op field, and yes, some days I just do not want to see another game.  But that is after a bad day.  On a good day, I am happy to come home and see over 80 machines stuffed in my house, LOL's

Selling fun is fun.  :-)

I would say there are a Lot of us that deal in the slots/gaming equip.-machines,parts,repair--Get aggrevated and don't want to look at any at times.  It happens as any other field of work.  Bust your ass humped-down in a cramped Diesel engine etc. for 20 years --Yea Don't like em but I damn sure can fix them but hate them. I been in the slots for about 20yrs now--Yep it has it's ups and downs.

This forum isn't just for people working in the industry... although it seems lately that those who know the most (who probably DO work in industry) have abandoned the site or make very few posts now, some of those posts being rather grouchy and grumpy, as if we're all supposed to know and remember everything about every kind of slot.
I DO understand there's a few here who just show up and expect instant answers or super cheap (or free) stuff. So yes I'd definitely understand some not-so-happy senior members ignoring those people.
BUT... there's the "others" like me who maybe know a little more on the s2000, s plus, CEI, etc who try their best to help out a sincere "newbie" who needs help.
I do my BEST to look look look before I post a question, and I just posted a possibly stupid question but I just wasn't sure and I did look first before posting.
It also used to be fun here, at least on the old NLG site. I came in a few years before the change over and it's a LOT different here now, in my opinion. Maybe it's just what I see since I'm not on daily but, what I do see is what I DON'T see - and that's those members who got tired of the grumpy ones.
I'm trying to make the best of it. This still is, by far, the best site for help on those nauseating gaming machines.
I actually like them. I have fun helping others. I have fun fixing them up for myself. It gets my mind off all the depressing SHIT happening in the world, and it's fun to put new life in old games.

I have someone coming tomorrow on an "as is " basis.... I always say I done selling as is or no more NLG.... and then i always give in .... anddddd 75% of the time regret it....oh well. Part of business but when you truly love what you do everyday the irritating days don't matter too much. We are finally starting to phase out of retail which has helped the stress level of my brother and I. The amount of S2000 and I games we pumped out for 3 years was incredible but I am not lying when I say we are on our phones from 8am- 11pm.... howwwwww do I turn the sound down, the reels the noisy, theres a buzz in my machine, its got a scotch, its dirty, did your even go over this, Its not black enough, the tape on my reel chip is is faded... i swear on my life someone said that to me once haha. Hope you're doing well and I still keep in my head the story of you getting burnt by you know who

You charge more for NLG users? Because we bitch too much? No offense but that's F'd up. Now I know why I have a bitter feeling about the vendors on here price gouging. You proved it's true. I understand you have to support your business but I'm curious how much profit you're making? Do WMS dongle games fall in your lap and then charger over a grand for them? Don't get me started on the vendor that charges $100-$150 for copied games!

I have bought from a few vendors on here and have never gave them any problems and love doing business with them and will do business with them in the future, unless it was the wrong item. I love doing business with Barry, Bettor slots, Rudy's, Central Valley.. and an extra shot out to idylewild for helping me fix my Party Spin card for nothing!

I come to this site to try to help users as much as I can because I appreciate users that have the same interest in me.  And for all you knowledge'd grumpy asses out there, try to be more patient with other users. I don't care how many times I get asked "how to set up a progressive"... I'd be happy to help. If you are bitter about the site, then don't help.

I am not trying to put the vendors down, but we are collectors and not trying to make money off our slots. Why don't you price gouge the people who use these machines to profit!

Sorry for the rant... love ya guys! :)

I didn't mean to get anyone worked up.... I was just joking about the comment. In my opinion you'll see most vendors prices on their sites are fairly inline with what prices should be.... most of the machines .... actually 99% of the machines we sell go to someone that wants to put 1 in their basement for fun the others go overseas. Overseas is tough to grab due to our location, what we carry in stock, and language barrier. If you want to say we are price gouging then so be it.

Lets say our business makes a good profit. Does that mean we are ripping people off? Or simply we do things the right way and may actually have some old fashioned work habits left in us. i would be happy to show you my text, call and email log and post on this site daily. 9x out of 10 when I sell a machine to a novice that just puts it in their basement I end up babysitting it... emails, texts, phone calls.... multiply that by about 5-6 retail machines a day- 7 days a week if not more... and come back to me about price gouging.... HELL THE PRICES KEEP COMING DOWN. The market is flooded... and its not going away.  And yep you're right...the casinos... they just send me dongle games for free because they like me

I think what my rant is deeply about... is in the past I would sell someone a machine and all they did was b*tch about it.... after giving them an NLG discount. Its dirty, the glass is faded, it doesn't pop out like my other machine that I bought from this dealer but you're $6 cheaper so I'm not going to buy from them. Take care of me or I'm going to bad mouth you on NLG... I think a lot of that stick in my head and I associate some of the site to that.

I actually do love this site.... it helps my techs. I use it to buy glass and seldom I'll throw some "as is" machines on here and everything goes well.

I wish I could help with more issues on here for tech stuff but I'll be honest.... I can't even change out a reel strip on a machine without having an issue or tearing it.

Coolwavepic- I apologize for upsetting you... maybe you took the post wrong and thats fine... but there is an on going stigma about "NLG" members.... when a random person calls me and starts talking about all the stuff they're looking for their S2000 slot machine to do... I jokingly ask... are you an NLG member..because they know too much.... and sometimes when they know too much nothing meets their expectations..... with that said I always jokingly say to them well now I have to charge you 10% more... thats where that post above came from. I don't charge them more no... they have the free range to shop with anyone else and I know that. i

Love you all as always

Chris,
I can empathizes with the scenarios you described, one can not forget that these customers are the ones that usually pay 40% more than a wholesale deal to an exporter.  That's just the price of doing business to the home market
.... most of the machines .... actually 99% of the machines we sell go to someone that wants to put 1 in their basement for fun the others go overseas.
I can say that our vendor here, Gameking does give discounted/ great deals to NLG members, so If anyone that is a home user wants a good deal on a machine or two give Jeremy a call.

Gameking is a good guy I've had the opportunity to work with him some more the past year. Never had an issue with him and he's always fair... I didn't mean to get too riled up a I think I took out some of my retail stress out on here! I apologize.

I think everyone that knows our company knows we are fair... and always willing to work with others... im sure there are a few that think otherwise but thats also part of business.

PS have 5 BB2 boards if anyone is looking
