Title: Input/video on older Game King
Post by: 89chevyman on July 15, 2015, 12:35:00 AM
Okay, is there anybody that can shed some light on the IGT Wheel of Fortune machine circa 1997(?) Is this strictly a 3802 based game or did they make it for a 3902 also? If strictly 3802, how boring/fun is the game and what other games are available for that format? Can this be upgraded to a 3902 using the eproms from the 3802? Anybody have a video of this particular game? Thanks.

We had some of those about 8 or 9 years ago.  I don't remember too much of the specifics of the board but I think it will work in 3902 if you have the right sound board.  I could be wrong, it's been a while.  The game itself wasn't that impressive either.  We had people wanting them like crazy for a minute until no one was getting play in the casinos.  It does look nice when it's booted up but that single screen version is nothing too special.

Thanks for the reply, I appreciate it. Am considering making a purchase of one, but am having flexibility concerns. The initial thought was this would be a cool game to own, but I'm beginning to think it would limit future uses. It is, however, a desirable theme and if I pass on it , later on I'll probably kick myself for not picking it up. The thing that is holding me back is that it does not have dog ear speakers, built 1997. So to add them onto the cabinet wouldn't be a big problem, just adding the rest of the sound upgrades, board, harness, etc. and a dual button board would start to get a little dicey. Plus the game itself looks a little old school when it comes to graphics, bonus rounds and not sure if it even has the Wheel of Fortune sound effects from the game show like the newer ones have. I'm sure I could flip it, but don't have the financial ability to just buy it just because "its cool". To say the least, I'm on the fence about it. The wife , the wife mind you, even said I should get it :Scratch-Head: :Scratch-Head: Go figure, "You better not buy another machine" :Scratch-Head: :Scratch-Head: :Scratch-Head: Anyway, I guess I'll spend a few more restless nights contemplating this. Haven't seen any of these for sale anywhere nor a video of one in operation so I'm assuming they are a rare bird, yet another concern. Thanks again.

I think it's kinda a crappy game, circa late 1990's.  You can install it on a 3902 board, but you will need an older MML board with EPROM sockets instead of a SIMM socket for the sound.  Here's a PSR for one version of it.
