I was wondering if anyone has any experience using Edge-Lit LED Panels instead of fluorescent bulbs to illuminate glass. Do they look good enough to justify the cost? Does anyone have any pictures with a side-by-side comparison?

I have seen an edgelit on a friend's machine. Basically it eliminates the "hot spot" that results from the flourescent light, since the whole glass panel is evenly lit, so there are no darker areas. It does look nice, but I guess it depends on you and how much you care about that particular situation. Personally, I don't think it is worth it, but my friend thought it was the greatest thing since white bread.

Have him post a picture. :) I'm curious to see how it looks.

I think he sold it last year. I will ask to see if he had any photos of the machine before he sold it.

I bought one for the denom panel on my 17" choptop Game King. Looks fantastic. Much better than the 5 incandescent bulbs that it used to take.

Were those installed before the current videos of your Game King machine? You're still using fluorescent for the top & belly, right?

I think these look nice but really you are simply talking about $8.00 worth of LED lights and a white plastic panel for reflection.
I would be hard pressed to shell out $60++ for each panel (2 per machine) especially when you have multiple machines.
Even swapping the florescent to LED tubes at Happ prices are excessive.
You could purchase the 5m strips of RGB LED lights that have the capability of about 16 different colors and build this yourself.
The panel would not even need to be plastic You could do this with L shaped moulding and a painted piece of wood paneling.
The L-moulding goes around your painted panel so the LED lights don't point directly at the glass.

This one might work better for US voltage plug.

Thanks Ron, I didn't dig that deeply into the individual Ebay listing.
Have you stated building one yet ?
