Title: Mills Dewey upright slot machine
Post by: SPN on March 29, 2022, 11:16:55 AM
I have this old slot machine that I think are in pretty good condition except it have some payout issues..?

Does anyone have user manual or service manual or if anyone have any knowledge about how the machine are working?

It has six different slots where you can insert a coin but now and then it behaves like I have inserted in several or even all the six slots even that I have only inserted one coin, is there an adjustment that can fix that or can it be that something are even broken..

See pictures :)

I've never owned one of these very early slot machines but they're fascinating! I've also never seen one in operation until I watched this video I found on Youtube. It's not exactly your machine but I think it's very similar or same in operation.
I'll message another very knowledgable member (Monti, of Monti's slots) and he'll chime in soon.

Very Nice Floor Wheel, congratulations on it as they are rarely seen and maintain a high collectors value!
Without further hands on inspection I would say your issue is in the coin head as one to six coins can be played at any time before the handle is activated and it is not resetting to the initial Start position!
Personally I don't have any manuals on the Floor Wheels but I have contacted a close friend another slot tech who has been recently working on them and may be able to guide you thru it!
PM me and I can give you his phone number, Etc!
Ciao!

Thanks for the video it was amazing and I have already watched it several times just to learn how the mechanism works in general and maybe I understand my problem as well..

Yes I will contact you but if you didn’t know I am living in Norway 🇳🇴 So WhatsApp would be the best way to call I guess

I found this magazine/manual inside the machine and wonder if you might understand how the game works and maybe effects my problem.. (See pictures)

Well, as without hands on viewing and checking out there is no definitive answer to your question, however remembering the "Domino Effect", for every action there is a re-action, take your time and follow the intricate action that takes place after inserting a coin and activating the mechanism!
Also as mentioned here above I believe you can also post on the link below as there are people there that specialize in Floor Wheel slot machines!
https://www.coinopcollectorforum.com/
The folks there are dedicated to the late 1800's, early 1900's Floor Wheel Slot Machines and the later early mechanical slot machines while here they focus more on the machines produced after the Bally E/M slots came out in the early 60's!
Bona Fortuna!

I’m not 100% sure but it looks like I solved the issue by adjusting the four screws you can see in the picture, I loosened up the four screws
and pushed the whole mechanism closer in and it seems to work perfect 9 of 10 times now, before the issue was every second time so absolutely progress
and hopefully all I need from now is some small adjustments..

That's great to hear!
When you have time, make a short video of the operation. I'd love to see and HEAR it.

I found out that I also must fix another part ( picture) that is broken and I will also try to install the music box
so I guess I need to make a bracket or something so I can connect the music box to the machine, anyone who has any experience with that?

Yes i definitely will but I’m not sure how to post a video :)

Thanks for all help and tips with the game
