Title: BB2 touch screen not turning on but ...
Post by: Ken on October 26, 2020, 05:59:19 PM
....I can play the game. Since I don't have a good background with monitors any suggestions on what to do first?

Thanks,
Ken

Edit: New monitor fixed the issue.

well...for starters, pull the monitor out and check the 3 plugs behind it.
Make sure they're connected down in the machine too.
Wiggle connectors around and see if any video is trying to come on from a loose wire pin in their respective Molex housings perhaps?

Since you can play the game, that means the monitor is communicating its EDID with the mpu letting it know it is there and what resolutions it supports.  So that means that the control board is powered up.  The next step is to see if you have an A/D problem.  If you pull the vga cable from the monitor and power up, do you get the "no signal" message on the display?  If you don't, you probably have an inverter or the CCFL bulbs that provide the backlight are blown.  You could try finding the inverter to see if it fixes the issue, or you could replace the ccfl tube.  The cost of these monitors is such that it is probably cheaper to replace it with a known working one.  If you do get the no signal message on the monitor, you can probably recap your A/D board and it will come back to life.

Thanks Mark ... I did trace the wires down. Unplugged and plugged them back in. Same result. I can play the game but no video.

Thanks Rick ... I don't get the "no signal" message so I think I will just get a new monitor.

Thanks for the help.

okay...since the monitor is close to toast, whacking the LCD with a stiff piece of wood from behind against the steel shell might help?
I'm not kidding either!  :rotfl:
You'd be amazed what I used to do to my parents TV to get it working when I was a kid! :24:
