Title: Wms BB1 LCD Monitor: cigarette smoke removal
Post by: 89chevyman on August 18, 2015, 09:31:17 AM
I was wondering how difficult it is to separate the touchscreen from the monitor to clean off the cigarette smoke that has found its way between the two? I'm in the process of making a BB1 purchase and this machine has this problem. Just want to know what to expect when I get it and start shopping it out. Thanks.

Chris, I'd be interested in this as well.  Mine doesn't have this problem, but I'm a clean freak, and anything that you can share would be great.  Photos!

It's kind of similar to removing the touchscreen from a bally machine.  Some of us use fishing line to separate the glass from the screen, others use an exacto knife to cut away slowly and carefully the two sided type used to join the lcd with the touchscreen glass.

What do you use to re-attach the touch screen back to the monitor? Some special kind of tape or ?

Thanks everybody for the information :hail: Great reference post Ron, didn't see that one. When I do get my machine I will have at least a better idea of how, or if, I want to tackle it or leave it alone. The smoke "ghost" is in the lower corner and not too noticeable, but we'll see once the new baby is home. Only thing that makes me nervous is that ribbon cable. Thanks again for all the input. Much appreciated.
