Title: S+ not accepting coins

I have an S+ that was working fine and has recently stopped accepting coins.  It works fine and accepts bills, the insert coin light is on, but they just fall through. 

I think that when it first started to happen, I could open/shut the door, wait for the lights to come back on and then it would accept a quarter? Now, nothing.  But, it always accepts a bill for credit.

Any suggestions?

Your coin-in optics might be bad.  Also make sure the comparitor coin did not get dislodged or moved.

I have found that at times the sample coin needs to be changed.

I run mine on tokens and it just seems that the metal properties of the token change.... not even sure if that is possible or within the realm of accepted physics. All I know is a different token works fine, I go back to the one I had and it doesn't work. Perhaps they become magnetized. None of my lead has become gold.

There is also a small adjustment on the coin comparator that adjusts the sensitivity. You might try backing that off a bit.

When you say it just falls through, I presume you mean it is just being rejected to the tray, not that it's being "eaten" by the machine with no credit given.

I'd agree with Jay's suggestions above.  Re-seat or completely replace the sample coin with a clean, good coin.  Also, adjust the sensitivity on the coin comparator to make it less likely to reject coins.  Using a tiny screwdriver, move the potentiometer adjustment back and forth a few times to clean off its internal contacts, then dial it most all the way away from the "+" (counter-clockwise).

Yeah, the coins just fell through back into the tray.

Changing the sample coin fixed the problem!  :thank_you:
