Hi! Got an old video poker machine from my wifes dad estate when he he passed. He lived in Vegas and worked at various casinos. After 2years in the garage with a open door error, low battery error call attendant message I finally started working to get it running a few weeks back. Searching this amazing forum worked my way thru many issues. 1. I learned how to open it HaHa, 2. put a new battery on the board, 3.bypassed the jackpot key with a paper clip (didnt get one with it), and figured out how to put the sample coin in the reader to get it to start taking coins.
Well surprised my wife tonight with it up and running! she played for hours. Was so happy after getting it started. I then figured out how to open the dollar acceptor door and the top panel so I could try and replace the dead bulb in there. When I removed the bulb and closed it all up I got two new challenges. The lever for the top panel where the burnt bulb is in the machine so I had to reopen the top again. First the barrel key would not open the top anymore, so after a few tries prying with a screwdriver and turning the key with a pliers it finally popped open. Tightened the inside nut on the barrel key lock and seemed all good again. When I replugged the machine in I got the following new messages and the quarters now just come right out into the coin dispenser area like when the reader doesnt read them. I searched the forum again, and tried adjusting the sensitivity of the coin reader, put a new coin in, opened and closed the top a bunch, tried turning the machine on and off a few times.
Seems me opening the dollar bill acceptor door or the panel next to it, or maybe shutting the top too hard started this. Any help would be super appeciated! oh lower light on candle is flashing.

There should be a cherry switch on both the top doors. Try pushing them in manually and see if the open door goes away. Closure just means a door was open but now is closed.

There is a door switch (white press button) on the right top door (bill acceptor door) do not see one on the left big panel that houses the fluorescent light. Tried pressing the one manually, door open stays on. Coins just go straight thru and come back out, credits not registering and screen is frozen to last poker game hand. No buttons work. Going to grab more pics.

My PE+ is a upright - I have door optics on my door.
I would reseat the cash can, is the bill acceptor door closed ? mine does not have a lock so I use a piece of electrical tape.
I understand that slants have plunger switches but not sure if that is in addition to the optics or instead of.

I haven't opened mine up in a very long time. I will check it out later tonight when I get back home. There may not be a switch on left top. There may be one behind the cash box too. Can't remember if there are optics or switch for main slant door. Probably is a switch for bottom front door too.

Gremlins?
Bypassed the slant top optics using 2 paper clips, this shut off the (1) door open notice in the self test screen. Rehooked up slant top optics. Checked all connections, removed the cash box as well as the actual bill acceptor, and reinstalled. When I shut the slant top it went to the green screen verification like when you turn the jackpot key, it had not done this since the notice of door open yesterday. She fired right up! I am guessing I didnt reseat the bill box correctly?

Only thing left is the main display is to the right on the actual monitor a little bit so you cannot see how many credits are available. Is there a way to recenter the display?

There should be some monitor adjustments on the top or bottom edge of the monitor. Mines on top,
I can't remember if there are 3 or 4 dials but you should be able to shift left/right, and up/down, contrast and brightness.
You may have to lift the top and expose the whole monitor.
