Title: 3802 – Advice wanted!
Post by: smoothgrh on May 20, 2022, 07:56:46 PM
Hi! I have two 3802 boards and neither of them are working. I put in known good game chips — one of the boards gives me a confetti screen, the other is just a reddish-black screen upon startup.

I want to actually use them, but I don't have the technical expertise to test for what might be the problem.

I've attached photos of them. If there's no obviously visible problem, what would be your advice?

I'll be going to Las Vegas this weekend — would anyone in the area have the desire or time to have me pay to repair them?

I know the easiest thing to do would be to just sell them for parts or — even worse — send them to e-waste, but I would hate to do that.

Thanks for any thoughts!

Check gme2 chip legs.  One looks bent.

Good eye!

Unfortunately, swapping out the GME chips and making sure they’re seated still gives me the confetti screen.

Maybe call Alan at KLAR if you can't resolve this here. He's in Las Vegas.
