Title: IGT "S" coin/credit option
Post by: satelliteman on August 05, 2022, 03:46:57 PM
My IGT "S" model slot pays out winners in coins unless I press the "cash out" button before initiating play. I want to change that to having the machine hold credits until I press the cash out button. Can someone "walk" me through the procedure necessary to accomplish what I would like the machine to do? I searched for info on how to change that option, but can't seem to find anything for an "S" machine. Thanks in advance

Should be the same as the Splus
Push the cash credit button until it lights up then play with that lite lit until you win something and it should register your win on the meter
When the machine runs out of credits you will have to repeat this process

Thanks for your response but, as I stated in my original post, I am aware of how to get the machine to hold credits by pressing the cash-out button before initiating play.
So, are you telling me that there is no way to set this machine to hold credits automatically without having to remember to press the cash-out button before inserting coins until a winner is registered? And yes, I know that once you press the button, as long as you continue playing, it will register credits. That is, unless the machine stands idle for 30 seconds with no credits, then it reverts to coin-out play unless the process is repeated, I'm trying to get the machine to hold credits automatically, as most other machines do.

Yes their is a way
Take the menu to 5.
You have the option to go to 5-0, or 5-1 or 5-2.
Take it to 5-1 and it should hold credits.

OK. I guess that's what I asked for help doing in my original post. I'm not real familiar with setting options on IGT machines, especially on an "S" machine.
HOW do I take the menu to 5?
HOW do I set option 5-1?
Do I need to do something to "save" the setting?
Sorry to be such a pain, but I'm just not getting anywhere on my own it seems.
Thanks in advance.

On the left hand side of the machine....where all the wires are going from the door harnesses into the MPU cage...look in there on the box itself...do you see a little white button?
If so, slowly press it a few times until you see a [5-0] in the [Winner Paid] window on the front of the long displays.
(You have the smaller rectangular display. The "5" is in the [WINNER PAID] window.
The "zero", "1", or "2" options are in the [CREDITS] window just below it.)

Now, press the [SPIN] button once or twice to get the right number "0" to change to a "2".
You can change it to a "1" too, but the [5-2] turns on the lamp in the [Credit] button on the deck.
Either one allows you the option to turn it on or off manually.

When you close the door, the [Credit/Cash Out] button should be lit up.
If so, then all your wins will accumulate on the display meter.
When you hit the cash out button, the credits will run off.
If the lamp is NOT lit up on the [Credit/Cash Out] button, check the bulb.

I followed your instructions, but it didn't change anything.
The first thing I noticed, was that when I got the "5" in the coins played window, the other areas were blank. No "0" as you said there should be after pressing the spin button a couple times. It goes right to "01", then "02" if spin button is pressed again. I left it at "02", closed the door, but the cash out button was not illuminated. Played the machine until I hit a winner, and it spit out coins. After that happened, I pressed the cash out button, and it illuminated. So the bulb is good. Seems as though something needs to be done to "save" the setting, because when I go back to the "5" in the menu, it is blank again. I tried setting it to "02" again, then turning the jackpot key once to see if that would "save" the setting, but it made no difference. Still pays out coins.
Once again, I want to bring attention to the fact that this is an "S" machine, not an "S+". Don't know if that makes a difference.

There were no credits. All payouts were in coins.

After you set it to 02 turn the jackpot reset key to lock it in.

I did that. Didn't work. (As I stated in a previous post).

Hmm...I wonder what SP chip you have installed on the MPU?

You said n Reply#6 that you pressed the Cash/Credit button once and it DID light up.
That means for the SP you have installed, the option setting of  [5-0] could work for you.

If not, try the [5-1] setting....it won't hurt.....one of them will work for ya!  :cool_thumb_up:

If you are getting 01 02 you're in the wrong place.  It will have a 5 in winner paid window and either a 0, 1 or 2 in credits window.

If and when you get the setting you are after (I've never worked on an S) the cash-credit button will start flashing as soon as you get credits on the meter, you do not light (and can not light) it up first.

If you can't get to 5 in winner paid window just by pressing the white test button, press it until you get a 2 then turn jackpot key to get to 5. Use spin button to change from 0 to 1 or 2 in credit window.

I just realized something!
I just threw in a long display panel for kicks.
Found out that the numbers for the [5-1], [5-1], or [5-2] are all in the WINNER PAID window only.

Meanwhile, on the smaller 3"x5" rectangular displays, the "5" is in the [WINNER PAID] window.
The "zero", "1", or "2" options are in the [CREDITS] window just below it.

At no time do I get a "5" or a "2" in the winner paid window. Here is a list of what is shown in each window as I depress the white button:
  Coins Played                      Winner Paid                       Credits
          0                                1          1
          1                               10         1
          2                               10
          8                              8888                                    8888
          0                           cycling nos.                         cycling nos.
                                       from 0000
                                       to 1000
          3                                0
          4                             3409
          5
          6                               0
          7                             100
                                        1000
          8                            0000

Very interesting, I was wondering about that.   :thankyou:

Hey satelliteman,
Push the test button a couple of times until you see that 2 in the coins played and 10 in the winner paid windows.
Turn the jackpot reset key once until the "5" pops up in the coins played window.
Now press the "Spin" button to change the zero, 1, or 2 in the winner paid window.

Did as you instructed, with 2 in coins played window and 10 in winner paid window, turned the jackpot key once. Coins played stayed at 2 and winner paid went to 11. Each successive turn of the jackpot key results in an increase of 1, up to 46 in winner paid window. Coins played stays at 2 throughout. It then starts over with 10 showing in winner paid window.

...and if you hit the test button, it just goes to [8] and all the 8's?

That means if you can't get to the 5-0, 5-1, or 5-2, you don't have the option to send winning credits to the meter.

Go buy an S+ then?

Yes it will send credits to meter. Read his first post. You just have to keep the cash-credit button lit, it will time out if there are no credits on machine.  You will have to make sure it is lit whenever out of credits like you were doing.

Yeah...I'm just surprised he doesn't get it to go to a [5] in the Winner Paid window.
The "5" in the Coins Played window is for testing the reel strips.

Hmm...I wonder what SP chip you have installed on the MPU?

He doesn't, because he has an "S" machine which doesn't use SP chips.

I just read through the Fey manual for the S, and while it references credit mode, it doesn't give any indication of there being a setting to force it to default to that like the S+ can.

Also, the Group 5 setting on the S is a display test, not the configuration of credit mode like an S+.
