PSA 66-ST Printer in a BB2? Possible or No?
« on: January 15, 2021, 02:22:52 PM »
Can I use a FutureLogic PSA-66-ST printer in my BB2? I think it's an RS-232?  :scratch-head_3:
It has a 12-pin Molex connector & the smaller 3-pin 24VDC connector.

I also have a FutureLogic PSA-66-001N Nextplex version to try.
This one has the 8-pin Molex connector & the smaller 3-pin 24VDC connector.

I'm wondering if I need to have either one of them flashed for a BB2 or if it's just a matter of making an adapter harness?

Here's a photo of the BB2 harness on the left and the harness coming from the FutureLogic printer on the right.
The WMS BB2 Molex has 14-pins while the PSA printer connector only has 12-pins.

I removed the printer harness from the RS232 PSA-66-ST printer.
Then I plugged the 14-Pin BB2 printer harness directly into the printer interface board on the back of the printer.
Turned on the power and it powered up fine...the motor pulled in and lined up a new stack of tickets perfectly.

In the settings, I set it to "PSA-66-T" but won't complete communication and comes up with a "Printer Com Error".
I shut down and changed printer jumper ....still no go...changed to "Netplex" in settings...nope...nada. :banghead:
I think I have the wrong firmware for this goddamn POS. :fuel_on_fire: :pos_computer:  :rotfl:

Have to go to FuturelLogic website and search for the firmware :sherlock: I need, make a cable for comm to work and upload it to the printer.

Turned on the power with "Feed" button depressed on printer gave me this sheet of printer configuration below.
You can see I circled questionable firmware and baud rate config.  :nerd:

Attached is a printout from my BB2 Futurelogic GEN2 RS-232. Looks like you need a different model printer.
If it ain't broke don't mess with it.....

okay cool beans...I have one like that....That's a Netplex printer because of the "N" at the end of it.  :cool_thumb_up:

The interface card on the back of yours...is it a 14-pin or 10-pin?

I might just need to swap at the interfaces at the end of the ribbon cable...

okay...thanks
I swapped the 14-pin interface with a PSA-66-001N printer and got the baud rate to 19200 9same as yours)
However, the Firmware is now STPV6.1.7 TKT2.3....different from the other one....booting up machine now to flip settings to Netplex and see what happens.
The hard part is waiting for the machine to load up the CF cards....takes forever.  :rotfl:

BOOM! It works!  :dancing_party: :happy_and_cheerful_birthday: :cheerleader:

Settings must of already been on Netplex because no errors occurred!
Swapping to a 001N printer head did it even though the firmware differs!
