Printer Error Messages - Need Help

Upon start up of my 3902 GK I got this error message:  PRINTER NON VOLATILE DATA ERROR PRINTER HEAD IS UP PRINTER DOOR IS OPEN. After a visual inspection of the printer I got another message:  "paper out and has wrong paper or sensor"    The paper tray was already filled with correctly installed paper.  I restarted the machine several times but keep getting the printer error messages.....I am not sure where to begin troubleshooting this problem.  As always any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Try sliding the printer out and back in again. I'd also open and latch the main door and restart the machine.

I tried that but got the same results.  I also tried a different MPU, key chipped it and got the same results. Yuk.

I had a printer awhile back with the same message " paper out and has wrong paper or sensor" ended up replacing the printer. Not sure if the problem was with the ribbon cable or the printer. But replacing it took care of the error.

"PRINTER DOOR IS OPEN" means the LED receiver/emitter optics in the back of the printer body aren't getting blocked by a plastic molded pin.


or


the printer door optics has a burned out optic board, emitter optic, reciever optic.


Only way to fix is to dismantle the printer and check out optics and internal boards for a burned out IC component.
