I have 6 games for this and although this is the last game I loaded, I'm 99% sure it's not the monitor. All the other games display the top monitor stuff perfectly.

About half of the screens that come onto the top screen during Star Trek Ep. 6 have lines through them. It kind of ruins the game for me. Then half of them display perfectly.

Anyone know what might cause this? I have a BB1 cabinet with a BB2 board (BB1.5)

Sample pics below: (the last picture is one of the screen that dispays fine)

It looks like a sync issue, that game is supposed to have a widescreen monitor for the top, I bet if you put a 1680 x 1200 monitor it will fix the issue.

The monitor you suggested, does that mean the 21 inch? It looks like it's doing it on Lord of the Rings too...it didn't used to do it on this game.

I would like to upgrade to a 21  Inch monitor and touch screen as well. There is a bottom touchscreen available now in that size. Can I run the 21" bottom touchscreen with an 18" upper monitor? I would like to run some of the 21" games. Thanks so much for your help!

Also, is plugging in a 21 inch bottom screen and making it work pretty easy and straight forward? Do I need any special clear card or part? I have a BB2 in a BB1 cabinet.

There is a thread somewhere that goes through the widescreen conversion.  You have to do some creative work in order to fit the wide 22 inch screens into the bb1 cabinet.  The lines above do not go away by changing the bottom monitor obviously.

It looks like the plastic around my 18 inch touch screen would pop right out, making it the right size for the 22 inch. I guess that's not how it works. Sounds like too much trouble. I'm guessing BB2's came with 22 inch monitors. I would rather save for a whole BB2.

So when the guy upgraded and added a top monitor to the BB1.5 I have, he got the wrong resolution screen? How would they even make a screen that's wrong, and still fits in there?

If I replace it with this screen off eBay, how can I tell if it's right?

$199 BB1.5 top screen for sale https://www.ebay.com/itm/165545778785?hash=item268b4c1e61:g:W9QAAOSwilNitMnO

I would love to get rid of the lines, it makes my $1200 BB1.5 look like I got a deal on it because it was "broken". The guy I got it from got it new in the box, so I have a flawless, new looking BB1.5, w/ 8 games now, that looks like it's broken. I gotta get that top monitor fixed!

same screen type you have, not sure if the lines would go away.

I had a Bally machine do this with 4x3 games only. You may have a bad AD board in the monitor. The monitor would play 16x9 (1360x768) games fine but the older resolution games would make the monitor freak out. Not sure if thats the same thing happening hear but like Rick said, those Top screens on both Star Trek and LOTR were meant for a Widescreen monitor.

Oh, OK. I see now. So  my monitor is fine, but on crazy games or ones designed for 22 inch screens, I may get a glitch from shrinking it onto my 18 inch screen. I can live with that. Alot of the time, my top monitor just holds a "marqui" ? picture that replaces where the glass would be, those are clear, and over half of the Lord of the Rings screen are clear (no lines). Star Trek shows about half the screens perfect. All the simple games like Airplane, the Monkeys, look fine (marqui image only on top).

....so I will live with it rather than replacing my top monitor, it's almost brand new.

last question: So do BB2 cabinets/machines come with standard 22 inch or whatever the widesceen is? I want to play Wild Shootout:

Real bb2 cabinets have dual wide screens in the standard configuration.  They are 16x10 (1680x1050) not 1080p screens (1920x1080), so if you want to replace your screen make sure you get an OEM bb2 screen for the main monitor at least.  Some of us have used an NEC monitor for the topbox that was also 1680x1050 back in the day when the OEM bb2 monitors were really expensive, but nowadays, they can be purchased for a reasonable price.

UPDATE: The problem just went away on it's own. I played Airplane for a while which just has a Marqie (1 main picture, aside from the bonus rounds, it says Bonus on the very edge of the 1 pic.) The static pic was good. I played it for like 2 weeks. Then when I installed Lord of the Rings again, the screens were perfect. No more lines where they used to be. I'm guessing Star Trek will be the same.

so I'm glad I didn't get a new screen. Also, between those events  I put my BB1 CPU in for a bit to play Lucky Lemmings, so maybe when I reinstalled my BB2 CPU, it fixed it. Lucky me!

Good to hear, sometimes it is just a loose plug that can cause sync issues.  I'm glad you got your game to display perfectly, enjoy!

UPDATE: It got lines again on Star Trek....it lasted for about 2 days then went back to clear again. I would like to check the cable to the top monitor, but I'm not sure how to get in there?

Anyone know how to take this top off?

It has been a while since I worked on a 1.5, but if memory serves me correct, you have to remove the monitor in order to open the top box.  Which means you have to remove the speaker so you can get to the monitor.  I believe it is basically a lift-tilt and remove thing.  But like I said, it has been forever since I actually worked on one.  Maybe someone with more recent and accurate memory will chime in.

Another UPDATE: The lines in the top screen came back for a second time after clearing up, then about a day later they cleared up again. So it's clear now on all screens.

Now I know that if lines do show up,it will be temporary. They just clear up by themselves.

Wierd.
