Title: Ikea Bekvam slot stands
Post by: Nurbo on September 15, 2020, 01:31:31 PM
Hello,

*** sorry, Google Translate ***

I was looking for a piece of furniture to install an S2000, but my wife had very specific criteria. It had to be white and not too bulky.
While looking, I found a sideboard at Ikea, the BEKVAM model. It is sold new for 50 €, I bought it for 20 € second-hand.

The purpose of the transformation will be to shorten his feet for the total height from the ground to above the plateau is about 500 mm.

The cut will be made at the level of the black lines below.

The top is 28mm thick. The feet were cut to 478 mm. The total height is therefore 506 mm. In inches this gives 19.9 "while the documentation for the IGT S2000 indicates an ideal height of 22", or about 550 mm.

The legs were cut with an electric miter saw, with a stopper so that they were all the same length.

The bottom view of the board.

Once the feet are cut, I run a sander and create a slight chamfer at the bottom of the feet. The top is also sanded, above and below, without forgetting the side faces.

To paint all the faces at once, I suspended the feet.

Obviously in photos it does not look great, but the result is really satisfactory for lacquer rolled and without greasy coating.

The legs and the top were painted with a mini lacquer roller.

This part acts as a shelf but it also serves to stiffen the whole. A machine weighs in the 100Kg and this reinforcement is welcome. To paint it a little more difficult because the small slats are nailed, so brush required.

Here is a beautiful stands for machine !

Looks nice, just make sure it's sturdy enough to support the weight of your machine.

Very talented conversion....I love Ikea hacks.

But didn't you just create a LACK table … already available in white..... for $14.99 USD

hahaha  ;D

no the LACK table is not made with solid wood !

One Bekvam leg is heavier than the LACK table entire  :propeller:

I already tried by getting a LACK table in the children's room but it was not stable enough.

I like the conversion, But I too question its strength.

Looks great. Ikea's website doesn't list a weight capacity but those legs and how they attach to the top are pretty robust.  You're missing a photo of the table with the game!

In a Casino the Slot is bolted to the stand, stands are bolted to each other.
In the past there was typically a drop (open hole in top of the stand) that would all coins to drop when the hopper got full.
This of course was a secured door on the bottom.  With TITO I don't know that this would be a thing anymore but I suspect they are still using the same stands.

Hi,

Indeed the construction is more robust than some other products of the brand.
I will soon put a photo with the machine on it, but so far I have not yet done the installation  :Tongue_Out:

It should always be the same stands that are used, even if the top holes are no longer used for parts.

The fact that all the stands are bolted together makes the whole thing very rigid.

Hi,

With my son we set up the machine upstairs and on the stands.

There is no stability problem !

I would worry about those stands in California when you factor in about a 6.0 earthquake. My slots are secured to the wall with a safety cable to keep them from tipping.

Phew I do not live in a seismic zone but your method seems to me to be judicious in this case  :cool_thumb_up:
