Title: DBV 145 help
Post by: Border01 on January 28, 2024, 08:58:38 AM
I purchased 2 IGT S Plus slot machines with DBV-145-SH bill validators  ID011, V3.05. When I power the machines up the validators cycle, however, they will not pull bills in at all. Like they are not working. Not sure what to do?
Also, the cash boxes are on the side of the machine by the pull handle and I have no clue how to remove them. Any advice would be greatly appreciated

James

Could you post a photo of the machines?
It sounds like you have Bally 5500's...not IGT S+'s.

I’m having issues reducing photo size. It’s an IGT Haywire and triple diamond deluxe

Try a $1 bill then....that's about all those old DBV's will accept, unless you have a stash of older US currency with small, circled heads.

It won’t pull anything in. I read some instructions on the door and maybe I have a mplus?  MPU is on left hand side, not the back of the machine. Do you know how the cash box comes out?  I have never seen I one that you access outside of the machine on the side

Look inside machine on the right side wall, there must be a latch, lever or lock of some sort.

In the front of the bill validator I found a hole that if you slide a little plate over with a screwdriver it releases the tabs on the cash box

There probably was a lock where that hole is so patrons didn't have access to the cashbox.

Suspect the bill validator being the problem.
You may need to invest in a rebuilt one.

You have an early S+ with external BV. Check the dipswitches on the bottom of the DBV145 scanner head. Flip #8 dip in the opposite direction and see if it works. Use $! bills for testing.

Please post pictures of your machine, we can't help you without pictures. I can't help in that regard. people can suggest many things, but until we see what you have we are wasting our time!

BIG CLUE THAT I SEE,  if you have a S plus machine, you might have a aftermarket bill unit, no factory machines ever had a side mount cash box, in 25 years I have never seen one!

the other item that is confusing, SH models were typically on Bally and Williams machines,  ID011 is a protocol for Sigma machines, which did have side mount cash boxes,

So you can see the issue, potential Bally head, with a Sigma protocol in a IGT machine???

Need pictures

hope this helps

Jim

Email the photos to yourself.
You will be given an option to change the size.
Or ask someone nearby that knows how to reduce thesize of an photograph?

I was wrong. I have an external DBV for early S+ which bolts to outside of machine. Yours is internal. Right side of reels. I'm not familiar with that version.

I have a few of those.
They are outdated and cannot be upgraded.
I did a Topic about it on the old NLG website.
Best thing you can do for yourself is take it all out, get a long reel shelf and matching reel glass.
Use coins only.

PS
I'm not even going to go look for that Topic...I might of written it about 15 years ago!  :rotfl:

I was afraid that would be the case. I’ll just leave it the way it is. It accepts coins and works.
Thanks for all the advice, much appreciated
