Title: Bally EVO "Blazing Sevens" selling, not sure how much $$$?
Post by: shortrackskater on December 02, 2014, 10:23:50 PM
I worked for a month, busting my butt to get a Bally Evo operational. After some serious thought, I think I want to sell it. It's just too complex for me. It's working and I have lots of parts - working MPU, 2 "suitcases" that are not working, wiring, power supply, transformers, etc... I also have another game for it as well.
Does anyone have any idea what I should ask for this thing? I'm in Southern California. I'd probably list it on Ebay and Craigslist.

Did ya post about this one??? O did I just miss it? EVOs are not typically a "stump and dump" kinda gig, as there are certain things that go out, and others that never go out!

What's the issue? And please, just humore me, and Post them again, if I missed them the first time!

Here's the six page thread from May of this year. You send me the clear chip and another chip that I don't even remember what it's for!

I really LIKE this machine but it just too much. It had been off for a month and a half or so. I flipped it on and got "mains corrupted ram clear needed" something like that. It ended up being the lithium battery. I had a spare on my spare MPU and after doing the lengthy clear and set procedure, it's back up and running... mostly. There's still an intermittent buzz in the speakers. They work now. I have the rake jammed open because I kept getting a weird "reverse coin" error. You sent me the optics board that goes below the CC but that didn't seem to be the issue. It may just be the coin comparitor but I'm done dumping money in this machine. It's still a COOL machine though!

Roz are you still sleeping?  :zzzz:
Is everyone asleep? Come on - I know there's hundreds of EVO experts out here!  :rotfl:

Well, if they aren't sleeping already, they will be after reading 6 pages of posts from May! Geez!  :duh: :duh:

Since you've been messing around with it lately, why don't you try a new post, stating what the current symptoms are, and what HAS been done. Just a quick recap to get everyone up to speed.

If you don't want to fix the game, then you're probably looking $100 for it, if there's people in your area that would consider buying a non-working machine.

Well it actually IS working now. The battery change and set/clear did the trick. The only weird things are the speakers buzzing, which happens intermittently and the reverse coin issue which comes up sometimes.
I can work on that one again. I'd hope I can get more than 100 though especially with all the spare parts.

Just for somewhat of a comparison , even though it may not help. I sold 6 Evo - Hybrids end of last year on the East coast for $500 - $600 each working AS-IS

So before this battery died... the machine would keep giving me "coin reverse" errors. Back in the 6 page thread, that was addressed: I replaced optics board (COD board I assume) and it would do the same thing... work intermittently...sometimes would take 50 coins or so, then go back to COIN REVERSE error. I then replaced the CC. I also made sure the sensitivity was set to the least. Same thing would happen. Finally I jammed the rake open and it started working more consistently.
When I replaced the MPU battery last night and set/cleared the machine, it went back to the same stupid error. I did a set/clear again and this time checked "COIN COMPARITOR AND COD BOARD." I removed my "rake plug" and now it's working. It's taken about 60 coins so far with no error.
So... still WORKING, for now!
Another thing I thought about. The sound is good but at full volume, it's not that loud. In a noisy casino I don't think you'd hear it. I'm thinking that may be an indicator of the occasional buzz I get from time to time.
ALL this is why I may sell this machine. But if anyone has any more comments, please uh... make them. :)

Get a trac phone for 1 month, sell it on craigslist, deliver it for free so they don't know where you live and use a fake name. Oh yeah, and only take cash

Played 50 more coins and got COIN REVERSE and COIN JAM errors! Open and close door... it goes away.
I can't duplicate the error! I did replace the CC with one from ebay. Maybe it's bad again???
THIS is why I've now decided to sell this. It's IMPOSSIBLE to troubleshoot. I've tried here, and on my own and can't do it.

 :I_agree_1:

If your guide is the right size, then take a look at the optics. There's 3 eyes the coin has to pass to be accepted. If it doesn't move through the optics at the right speed (like is caused with the wrong sized guide) then you get the COIN REVERSE error. Then clean the optic eyes thoroughly. A piece of lint or dust could be interfering.

Also, open the door and drop a coin and follow the coin path. Watch for something not aligned properly or anywhere the coin could be hanging up.

Thank you Roz and bestbuyslots... but... been there, done that. Here's a three page thread on this exact issue. It worked for awhile but then I stored the machine for a few months in the garage with only occasional use. I think the machine IS demonized.  >:D

Since I started this subject on a selling price... I probably should bump the above thread and continue it there, since this subject is essentially solved. Meet me over there everyone!
Okay I'm over there now.  :propeller:
