Title: Universal World Series of Slots Jackpot issues
Post by: wallbanger on April 04, 2015, 01:25:40 PM
Just picked up this machine pretty cheap. Wasn't powering up. Found MPU wasn't plugged in. Works great except that the jackpots don't pay right.  Uniman had posted something on this subject back in 2013 & was wondering if was the same problem or if the reel strips are set on wrong?  So in the post was a chip number test after 9 pushes of the green button.  The numbers are 98933, 90041, 98986, 90008, 91200.  Are these right for The World Series of Slots?  If so, then what is the right start point for the reel strips?  If not, then I guess I must start looking for the right ones.  Thanks for any help!

Game chip is 8986.0008, and System chip is 8933.0041.
Wrong chips for World Series.
8986.008 is Diamonds & 7's/Thunder & Lightening/Stars & Stripes.

I need to see the paytable glass as there were two different World Series games. Need to know if it is a three-line game or a single line, buy-a-pay game.
Then I can get you the right eprom numbers.

Here is the pic. One line pay.  No burner, not in it that deep yet!

Ok, that is a 3 coin buy a pay. (Need to play 3 coins for jackpot, three different paytables)
It is a clone of Midas Touch.

So, you need game chip # 9120 and System chip #9003.0029, with two exceptions. Game chips 9120.0003 and 9120.0004 use system chip 8933.0041. All other game chips (9120.0007 thru 9120.0018) use the 9003.0029.

I will have to look it up this weekend. My Uni "stuff" is currently 150 miles from me. In the middle of a move!

The game chip extension .2059 will show what the % payback is calculated at. (need to look it up) The 8933 is just an older version System chip. The extension .1071 is most likely a certain jurisdiction. Example would be a Nev System chip for Nev rules and a New Jersey System chip for New Jersey rules. Rules such as what records need to be maintained by the machine, etc. Does not affect how game plays.

Ok. Thank you for your answer. Please check it up in the weekend if you remember it! Another question, can i just switch my 8933 chip to a newer 9003 if i find one? What will i benefit from it?

Regards!

I'm not sure, but don't think you can go to the 9003 without changing the game chip too. The only possible advantage to upgrading the System chip may, and I say may, allow a better sound chip. There is no documentation on sound chip to system chip compatability.
Changing System chips really has no other advantage other than possible sound chip upgrade. Changing the game chip can increase or decrease longterm payback percentage. Not really noticed by the home user.
So what sound chip(s) do you have?
