Title: Universal slot machine help
Post by: Yogibear on April 05, 2014, 12:35:37 PM
Ok I just picked this machine up. The power supply looks nothing like I have seen in the post about Universal power supplies. It doesn't make a peep when I power it up. It only has one fuse that is good, it's mounted on the door. It has resettable breakers. I removed the noise filter as it was toast. Still nothing. I get voltage 120volts at the transformer but get nothing on the output side. Here are some pictures, thanks Chris.

Also if I go buy the schematic it's not wired right. Wonder if I should change it? The 100v line isn't connected to anything.

You have a Narrow Power Supply. It maybe wired for 220v used overseas. I can't see all the connections in the pics.
Attached is the schematic for the Narrow Machine.

Yes it was definetly wired wrong. I have it working now, but the hopper kicks out the breaker. Only when it's grounded in the cabinet though. If it's setting outside not touching anything it doesn't short the breaker, but doesn't move either. So must be the wiring isn't right yet. Thanks Chris

So now with this power supply (narrow) trying to figure out what Pin out to follow for it. The 100v line isn't connected to anything yet. Is this hopper 100v or 24? Thanks

Sounds like the power supply was messed with and there may still be problems. There are different hopper types. With the narrow machine I would suspect you have the red high-speed plastic hopper. Correct?
But all the hopper types require 100vac to drive the motor.

Here is the complete drawing for the power supply.

I sent you a pm.

I've got it working now, thanks for the help. I took apart the hooper as a dime was jamming it up I should have taken pictures as I can't get it back together and working. Any pictures of one? The nickels pop out before they get to the pay slot.

This was a fun project, I'll guess I will look for another.

Did you get the hopper working?

Yes working great now. I think my 8 year old son is addicted.  I had to go get $20 in nickels so it wouldn't tilt all the time. Now that I read the direction on the slot I see you can have it add wins as credits. Looking for another one to repair. I found an Aristocrat for $50 thanks Chris

That's great Chris. Not many Narrow Universal's left out there. And really is a good machine for starters.

You'll find the Aristocrat a much tougher fix if repairs required, IMO.
