Multimedia Lite Sound Card with EEPROMS issue
« on: April 23, 2022, 04:13:52 PM »
Hello All and Thank You for taking your time to help me out here!

So I have battled the multimedia lite sound board for a couple days now and I'm up for any suggestions. The gameking software in the 3902 (see attached picture) is working fine, however during play I only get basic sounds. No caveman, no countup sound on hits etc. I replaced the "Biggest capacitor but not the 2 little guys. Also cleaned the heck out of all the little traces and chips etc. Still no luck! I found like 10 of these multimedia lite cards on EBAY in a lot for $40 out the door, however I thought I read somewhere that I can use a SIMM chip on a multimedia lite 2 board. I have 2 extras of those (see attached picture) I just don't have that SIMM that matches the gameking software. My Simms are for S2000 and Money Storm I Game. Can anyone give me ideas of what SIMM I might need or if I placed the sound chips in the correct ROM slots? Further, I even tried throwing Sound30's in the ROM slots but to no avail as I'm imagining its cus of it being older GK software. Some other questions are, can I run the software in a 3802 board with the CG eeproms vs the SIMMS I have now? The base chip is M0001085 NJ jurisdiction and I have it in a 13' GK cabinet.

Respectfully,

Wayne

DSS00589. I have one if you need it.
Quality doesn't cost. It pays.

You have a mismatched mess.  The MML1 (EPROM based) board with SWC46s go with earlier EPROM based GK software and it looks like you soldered the cap in backwards too.  M1085/G4868 is GK 5.3P and uses a MML2 (simm based) sound card, but you need DSS00589 for it.

Tilt,
Yikes, I thought for sure I soldered it correct with the down arrow like the one I removed. I will re-arrange. I'm going to PM RB for the simm. Thank you for your knowledge. Saves me from wasting $$$ on a new card I don't need.

On the old the cap arrow pointed towards the negative lead, the new one points towards the positive.

No problem, glad to help.
