Title: How to bench test your payboard
Post by: OldReno on December 01, 2019, 07:45:13 PM
with your VOM on ohms, clip one lead to the feed wire (93) on your pay board. Put other lead on 2 pay tab. Step board 2 steps, should go off. Next put on 5 pay, step 3 more steps should go off. 10 pay 5 more steps goes off. 14 pay 4 more steps. Etc, etc.
you can quickly check all tabs are contacting just by testing each one in zero position.
To test carry over (CO), step board up until you see it finally make contact. Outboard wipers should be adjusted to halfway through CO circuit then they should drop off.

Hi

I’m trying to follow the steps to test and adjust my payboard on my 831 since I have some problems with my higher payouts 100 and up, it seems to over pay with around 10-15 coins..

I did understood the lover tests from 2-18 steps and so far it works as it should, but from there I’m not sure how to check and adjust the higher payout ..

I’m from Norway and maybe not quite understand how to adjust the wipers or the co circuit part..

I’m grateful for all the help thanks 🤗

Hi. Your higher pays are controlled by the 2 sets of outboard wipers - 50, 100 and 200 pay tabs. As the spiral cam winds up, it pulls those wipers off their tabs. The must stay on the tabs until your inboard spiral wipers get to the CO (carry over) portion of the inner board.
If the outboards break contact before then it will short pay.
If the outboards stay on too long, it will overpay.
It sounds like they are on too long, so loosen the 2 screws and adjust them so they come off outboard tabs sooner. They should come off when your inner wiper is about in the middle of the CO. Hope that helps, from a fellow (American) Norwegian

Hi and thanks for your reply about the higher payout issue.

I’m not sure I understand you correctly but I have a feeling that this are the two screws I must loosen up and adjust the wiper?

Is it the one I marked red or blue, or both? Or is IT something totally different ? (See the picture i attached)

Yes. The red one is for your 100 pay, blue for 50 and 150. Good luck.
Once you loosen screws they slide to adjust. Right on.

I will try it out tomorrow since it’s past midnight here now and I will wake up the house if I start testing it now, hehe

I’m very thankful for your help and for the post about bench testing the payboard Sir.

Greetings from Norway 🇳🇴
