Title: Epoxy for worn out Hopper Scoop ?
Post by: Hiram on April 25, 2020, 02:53:35 AM
Now that it's fixed (thanks to Alan at K-Lar and Amechanic ), my PE+ has been working great but I just noticed that a pile of coins were next to the Hopper . I slid it out and found that over the years , the Quarters have worn a slot through collar part of the plastic scoop and the coins are falling out. I thought about taping it but , thought I'd ask you guys first if there was a better way or something that would last longer/ Maybe that 2 part JB Weld for Plastic ? The problem is , that "collar" bracket that the scoop looks like it bolts on to , is a different type of plastic and almost looks like a Fiber plastic material ....the rest of the cup looks like normal plastic ..so regular epoxy might not work on it. I don't know.  Or would it be a waste of time and worth my trying to find a new Scoop/ Cup & Collar assembly ?  But this is the old 13" monitor cabinet so , I'm not even sure if the parts are still easily found for these Hoppers so repairing it might be my only option now . I thought about the metal tape as well but ,that's close to the wheel and in a corner and if that gets loose or a chunk ripped off , I don't want to jam the mechanism. You can see the worn area and the coins showing in the picture below ...Has anyone else run into this ?  is JB Weld or some other brand the best way to handle this ?

I guess no one has run into this before so ...maybe Epoxy isn't the answer.
Do any of you know a dealer who might have the replacement plastic Hopper assembly I could buy ?
I tried looking on the web but they don't match mine . I don't know if all Game Kings Pokers used the same Hopper or , should I specify the part based on my cabinet and game model ?

You may want to search for a PE or PE+ hopper bowl, opposed to a Game King hopper bowl.  Your machine is a modified PE+ cabinet,  which had a smaller hopper bowl because of the size of the area below the monitor.  You might be able to fashion (cut down) a regular bowl to fit in the space.  Just a thought.

I'd stick some masking tape on the bottom and pour some mixed epoxy into the bowl.
That should fix it?
