Title: Aristocrat Espire General Cleanup
Post by: rjpohl on December 17, 2020, 12:36:25 PM
Slot is not accepting coins, they seem to hang up in top chute and the dial looking mech (not sure what it's real name is).  I can release the handle manually and pull it but reels just jerk and never spin.  I'm guessing most of it is general cleaning and lubrication so I'm looking for advise and a manual.
thanks
Bob

I think I might have found part of the problem.  I think this is called the "timing lever" (part with slot cut in it) and it sits on the "timing lever bracket" .  The stud on the bracket is welded but weld is broken loose (see pic).  The lever slides over a hub on the bracket and then had a screw holding timing lever to bracket.

Is the timing lever suppose to slide or is the screw suppose to lock it in place?
Need to know location of the welded on lever where welds is broken.
any parts out there????

I hope I have explained this well enough but if not please let me know.

Made some headway.  The shorter lever was seized up on shaft,  Got it loose and operating freely now.  The weld on the stud is broken loose but I don't think it will matter.  I also think the slot in the longer arm is for adjustment.  I hope to be able to get back on this  early next week.
I watched a few videos on YouTube and have a littler bit better understanding of what needs to happen to get reels spinning freely.

any advise is greatly  needed and appreciated!!!
thanks

I now have it accepting the coins and handle can be pulled.  Reels will spin but they are very slow and only spin a few turns.  I've tried to lubricate the reels to the reel shaft with out taking it apart.  Them seem to spin pretty freely to me.  Is there some kind of adjustment to improve the kicking of reels??
thanks

I've got one of these - at least the mechanism is the same. When I got it, it was completely gummed up. Whatever grease they used had set like glue, but it wasn't hard to clean it up and re-lube. I'll look at it over the holiday and see if I have anything worthwhile to tell you. The round thing is an escalator, like the one on the Rol-A-Top. I may even have a manual PDF somewhere.

I sprayed it down good with PB Blaster and let it sit for a week and it's now spinning freely!
