Title: New to AVP - eKey menu Question
Post by: edoleu on April 22, 2022, 06:28:34 AM
Hi all --

I recently bought an AVP with a version 2 brain box. I think the cabinet is a G23, but I'm not sure.

It has 960 emulator software and Game King 6.2.

I have been reading everything I can find, searching the forum postings, downloading and reading any manuals I can find, watching YouTube videos.

One thing that is confusing me is that when I insert the eKey 7, it does not enable additional setup menu options. It brings up the "IGT Game Program Selector"

I have installed a Bettor TITO and am trying to get it working, but it seems that I am missing something.

Any suggestions?

I think that's a trimline cabinet and I don't have one, but it looks to me like you should be able to select the comm channel setup button and then from there configure the machine for TITO.

Thanks for your reply!

I do have access to the comm menu, but everything is totally different than what I have seen in videos and other people's descriptions. When I put in my eKey 7, it takes me to "IGT Game Program Selector" (see photo in original post). I have seen in videos (like the one by Bettor Slots) that shows when you put in the eKey, it adds a menu option and allows you to select comm settings.

My machine does something totally different.

I definitely want to get the TITO working, but there are other things that I need to configure and customize.

Again, thanks for your help. I really appreciate your response.

Sorry I'm not much help.  I thought that maybe since it was an emulated 044 game that the setup menus may be the same or similar to that of a 044 game.  I'm sure someone with some experience with machine like yours will be able to help.

Thanks so much.

The AVP is totally new to me, but I love it already.

I've never ran emulation software before, but I would think you would need to select key28 to key the machine, then reboot and then the machine should behave like an i960 type machine with the key menus, etc.

Yes, Rickhunter, you are correct! That is exactly what I had to do. I figured that out last night through trial and error. Thank you for your reply!

I also figured out how to enable the Bettor TITO.

Here are the basic steps for machine setup with the i960 emulator and how to enable the Bettor TITO:

To set game options:

1. Insert key 7
2. Select key 00000028
3. Choose “Start Program"
4. Remove ekey 7 when instructed to do so.
5. Secure logic door switch. (Insert folded piece of paper into switch slot.) <-- I am not sure if this step is required.
6. Machine will boot into ekey menu.
7. Choose “Setup” and all options will be available.

For TITO, fist watch the Bettor Slots TITO instructions video a few times so you understand the specifics. They still apply, but you will find the options in different places. When you're in setup, do the following:

1. Disable hopper and coin options.
2. Enable printer
3. Redemption must be “SAS SYSTEM"
4. Set comm options using diagnostic 14 and set comm 1 “SAS PRIMARY” to Game King Channel 1 (Should show RS-232 when TITO board is connected properly.)
5. Enable redemption, set any address options to “1"
6. Other options for printing vouchers are fairly intuitive. If it looks like it should be enabled, enable it.
7. Remove ekey 7.

I will make a video of the process in case anyone else has a similar setup. I guess the main thing is that when you're running the i960 emulator software, the machine acts like an 044, not an AVP.
