Title: Bally Alpha Machine Fault Error

Just got this machine.  Loads, but starts reel cycle then machine fault error = game mgr (927)

I don’t have a clear card yet.  Previous owner said this happened on a handpay cashout.

Need more information. Sounds like a bad game card. What game are you trying to run? Need that clear card and maybe a new game card.

It has OEM 5 & 10 times wild installed.

What is the appropriate clear card, or how do I determine that?

You need a 335 clear for that 336 OS. Hopefully the bios is correct for the OS.

Thanks,  I did see the machine full of operational just a few months ago.

Hopefully just needs a clear.

Can the cards become corrupted over time?

Waiting on clear for this machine, but noticed that the printer is not connected.

I don’t see a spot on the motherboard.

Where does this connect?

The adapter harness plugs into a harness to the right of backplane.

You also appear to have the wrong printer type, your photo has a netplex connector on the printer, you need a serial printer.  The connection on a serial printer is larger than the netplex by 6 pins I believe.

Clear card arrived and I got the machine working.

Must have not put in the button settings properly as the big button on the right is the only one playing.

The other 5 buttons are not lit.


Printer is in photo below.  The cable does not seem to attach to this printer.

Will this printer work for this machine if I get a new cable and harness?

Probably need 14 button setting.  Which button deck is on machine?

Just have to get printer working now and a Tito.

Gen2 Universals will work if you have the right firmware.  You also need to source the right cable for it.  The cable you have is for the older gen2 printer (and netplex cable to boot, not even the serial cable).  Once you get the correct cable, you will need to do a self test on the printer to see which firmware is on it. (hold down the feed button while powering up, it will feed a paper and print the printer settings including the firmware that is on it).
