Title: BB2 Battery Problem
Post by: Dirtguy on May 22, 2022, 04:25:49 PM
Hi
I have a BB2 that eats batteries. When the machine is off for about 1-2 months, when I turn it on it seems to come on with low battery 1 error. I have gone through 3 or 4 batteries in the last year, have always replaced with fresh 2032. These batteries should last 2-3 years. Anyone have an idea what is draining them. It doesn't matter if I leave credits on the machine or not when I turn it off. I'm about to switch out to another CPU but I don't know if the cause is in the CPU or some other part in the machine causing the drain. ???

Those machines are not made to be left off for anywhere near that long at a time. Stop doing that and it’ll stop eating batteries.

You most likely have a short on the mpu somewhere in the battery circuit draining it.  But you are right 2 months of the machine powered off shouldn't run down the batteries.  On Bally alpha2 mpu's that is commonplace but not on wms mpu's.

I have got some bad batches of batteries from Amazon.  Grrrrrrr  finally found a good source.   At least, so far they seem to be OK.
I mean the CR2032 batteries....  Not the other thicker one..
