Title: S5500 Battery traces burnt.
Post by: 61Wally on November 24, 2023, 03:30:58 PM
I was wondering if there’s a way to repair the S5500 board, when the battery traces have been burned off the board? I’ve have this one and S6000’s that look like someone used a soldering Gun to replace the battery and they’ve burned/melted the “eyelet traces right off the board. Any thoughts/ideas about a repair technique that works?

Use a battery holder with leads and solder together the battery jumper pins along with the positive lead from the holder and then solder the negative lead from the holder to the ground test wire loop. This is all on the top of the board component side.

I sent a couple pictures to see if these are the correct places to make my connections? Positive is going to be soldered to JW4(BATT) & negative to TP21(GND). Are these correct?

Problem Solved, After the battery modification and RAM CLEAR It locked up on a 83F. I tried Several clear chips and ended up putting the U3,U4,U12, U15 set of Mains in it and ALL is Great Now. TU again, I have a few of these boards laying around that can be fixed as well doing this procedure.

You can do this to the 6000 boards also.
