Title: Summit board Summit Coin Limited not Summit Systems
Post by: Shaggy on January 31, 2015, 02:46:10 PM
I have an old Summit Coin Limited 3 reel slot with a battery damaged board. Any suggestions where to send it? I need to know if it's salvageable or how to proceed. Thanks
Dave

It's not too much of a project to repair it. You will need to remove all surrounding components, and scrape off any sign of corrosion. If the traces are damaged, you need to repair them with thin wire. And, it would be a good idea to put sockets under any surrounding chips. The corrosion will leach under the chips so you need to be careful there.

When corrosion attacks any of the solder pads, it requires careful scraping of the copper pad to get solder to stick. I have done dozens of acid-damaged board repairs on some old Jennings machines, and never had one fail me.

Battery corrosion goes deep, so it will take patience.

Thanks, I just thought maybe someone could check the components. I would like to have someone with more time and experience than me look at it.
My extra time is in the evenings and I like to enjoy the machines and kick back. Days are way too busy to work on machines. I wondered if Larry in Las Vegas would work on a summit board. We'll see.

Got the board fixed.  :dancing_2: Sunrise side made me new polycords for the reels. Replaced two blown fuses and fired that old girl up. It works great, have a few bulbs to replace but playing and paying good. It needs a good cleaning now but going to be fun. No buttons just feed the quarters and pull the handle. Thanks for all the help!
