HI
Just received this new IGT S2000 5 REEL -AS-IS-NOT TESTED
This is my first s2000 with enhanced board. I did a clear #224 then key 45 then after installing Sb chip & booting up I get the following error message,
AFTER ALARM,THEN TURN KEY GET
ASSERT FAIL CFG_BNS.C @ 500-DX601
no no key chip menu.
Is there something I'm missing ? Do my chips on board all look correct?
THANKS

Double check seating on all chips, make sure both batteries have proper voltage and make sure boards are inserted snuggly and try again. If green battery is low, leave machine on for a few hours, then cycle to see if it starts
-
Green battery only has 1.1 volt, will that battery charge some by leaving machine on a few hours? Or battery is to far gone?
Round battery is in 5 volt range,if my meter is correct.
THANKS
-
gm 1 chip in your pic sure looks like its not in at top notch end
-
If the green battery is good it will charge while left on.
-
Also check for bent pins on the back of your mpu board.
-
I have had an error like that before. Cant remember for sure but I believe I ended up replacing the mpu. Hope that is not your case.
-
SG000597s are not a match for your game. Try using 523s or 598s. Bet it will solve the problem. The WOF SIMM may or may not work.
-
Well that is some good news, after the bad new of MPU maybe needing replacement. I will try those chips on Tuesday. Thanks for all the extra eye's on this problem.
I will up date Tuesday.
THANKS

UP DATE
I installed the 523 game 1 & 2 chips & keyed. Now I get the netplex link is down. From my research on site, looks like it is caused by the green varda battery as it has 1.1 volts. Battery is on order.
THANKS

How long will it take to charge,or gather some needed juice?
-
I think mine took 40 minutes or so but I was able to turn it off and turn it back on and it started up

HI
Well after 3 hours of leaving machine on to charge battery,i now get the following message blinking on display DISPLAY PASSES SELF TEST. Also cpu lites 3rd from top & last from top blink on and off. Rest of lites stay steady on. What is the above issues telling me?

What does the voltage on the green battery measure at this point?
-
2.14 VOLTS
-
Hi
you need to change the green batery , wartha 3.6v
-
It may be a bad battery, but I usually leave my machines on for 8 hours to make sure thoae batteries are fully charged. Kinda like the old cordless phones, if you ran it dead it generally took about that long to fully charge.
Don't be surprised if you still have a software related issue after getting that voltage either by charging or changing the battery. I've swapped SG's before and ended up doing a clear and key to get proper function to the game. Not always, but it's happened. The notable one was a Crystal Sevens, I hate that game, PITA
-
Well at this point, will wait for new battery. Then see where im at.
Thanks for the help

Just received this new IGT S2000 5 REEL -AS-IS-NOT TESTED
So do you think that the statement above is a clue to your problem. Did you make sure all the pins on the legacy adapter board are not bent, misaligned or missing, same thing on the pins for the connection of the MPU board. Next step after that is to swap out the game on the adapter board to some other game to eliminate bad chips. Next try swap out the legacy adapter board with another to eliminate that it may be bad. Last resort is to swap out the MPU board with a known working one.

KEY WORDS AS/IS! not tested = I couldn't fix it
-
Buybestslots you hit the nail on the head on that one.

I believe you have some far worse problem than that battery. The lowest led on the front of the board (the red one) is the board fail light. Yours is blinking every few seconds or so in the video. That means your board is resetting and not powering up. If you have a spare board I would go that route first. If you just had a battery problem, the board would boot all the way up and give you the low battery error. In the case of the green varta battery the error you would get is tell-tale battery low. Sure looks like software or board to me.

Thanks for all the tips & help. I have a new board on order. Should be here by Saturday. I will up date later.
THANKS

:applause: good job

Glad you got it working and to hear that it was the battery and not the MPU. :applause:
