coin-out jam s2000
« on: April 20, 2022, 04:52:21 PM »
hello all, i am new to the site and hope i am posting this in the correct location. i have a s2000 round top lucky strike 3 reel slot machine that goes into a coin out jam immediately after finishing booting up. this is a coin less machine and has no hopper. i suspect i changed the settings in the cashout and hand pay settings by mistake and then the cash out button was hit. i have since disabled both. but the error does not clear.  i have checked all the harness's to the i/o boards and swapped out the i/o boards with known good ones from another machine. it has a ticket printer that works and when tested cycles through the ticket. the bill validator works but comes up with a green and yellow light after boot up. swapped with another and the light is now green but still has the error. i'm not sure what else to check and not sure if a ram clear is the answer but have been told that is a last resort. any help would be greatly appreciated.
thank you,
bobby.

Partial token payout should be disabled and coinless mode enabled in the key chip menu. Check those before you clear it.

in the key chip config mode the tokenization 7.1.7.2 it says partial token payout enabled but will not let me change it. the coinless mode is disabled. it will not let me change it from this menu. is there a way to change that without running the clear chip? if so could you explain
thank you,

You need a key chip to change those settings. You must have 0 credits for a key chip to allow access. There's a couple of tricks to clear the credits on the machine without using a clear chip. If it has a 50x MPU, you can swap the static RAM chips RM1 & RM2. This will cause a ram error when you reboot and you can clear that with a few turns of the key and pressing the test switch. Another method would be to remove the main battery from the MPU, then replace it. That will also cause a ram error. You have a coin out jam because token payout is enabled and there's no hopper to produce that payout.

Read the part number to know exactly what it is. 50x boards have a fixed bent steel handle on the tray and socketed ram chips right next to the SG chips. 1270 board has a swing out handle on the tray. The battery trick will work for either but some 50x may have a soldered in main battery. Most people replace them with a soldered in socket and removable battery.

The 1270 or S2000 enhanced MPU does not come with a solder in main battery. The slide in battery is factory.

Hi RB,
ok i was able to remove the battery and run the key chip programing. the coin out jam is cleared and the machine is functioning mostly. i didn't mention that this machine has a TITO installed because i did not think it was relevant but i am now realizing it makes a big difference. i was able to run the key chip programming again as per the key chip settings in the FAQ. the machine now functions except for the printer. when we purchased the machine the printer worked anytime the cashout button was pressed, it did not attempt a hand pay option. now it defaults to  hand pay and states "sorry, the printer is not available". the printer is enabled and the limits have been set very high so as not to limit the printer function. the settings match the FAQ recommendations other than the "restricted ticket" has been enabled. it did not change the function in either the enabled or disabled position. i have a known working printer and plugged it in and it did not work either. any ideas?
thanks again
bobby

Settings are outlined here. Follow them carefully. You have probably overlooked something.

Hi RB,
i followed the settings exactly and it still comes up with the same menu, it says sorry the printer is not available, hit cash out again for hand pay or max back to cancel. the voucher settings were different the vouhcer limit was set to bill limit, and the change voucher was disabled. could this be a different tito system them is available on NLG? it has sg000598 chips in it. could that be an issue. so as i remember this machine printed tickets when i bought it but when i got home during the transportation the board that plugs into the main mpu had come loose. i had to reinstall it and everything seemed to work although i did not print any tickets at that time. so this is the first attempt to print since that happened. not sure if this is relevant, i contacted the seller hoping he had a list of settings and he refereed me back to NLG.
thanks for all the help,
bobby

The "sorry printer not available" indicates the backend system for TITO or casino isn't validating a ticket. It has nothing particular to do with the printer, a S2k machine will do this with all good parts but wrong configuration.

598s are not a problem. Either something is not set right or the TITO is offline.

Ive gotten printer offline a few times randomly.  Every time it was solved by unplugging the tito's power and plugging it back in.  After a min or 2 it would work.

Coinless mode should be enabled if you don't have a hopper.

Partial token payout should be disabled and coinless mode enabled in the key chip menu. Check those before you clear it.

Whatever the default setting was for IPC should be left alone. I'm 99.99% sure you do not have an IPC. There's no reason to mess with that. No reason to mess with cashless controller either. Disabled is correct.
