What is a G+?
« on: April 25, 2022, 03:01:16 PM »
Rookie question. I have a chance to pick up a BB G+ for $100. I know its a Blue Bird probably a BB1, the question is, what is the G+ designation? A game? Special cabinet? What? Thanks in advance....

That machine is some sort of frankenstein.  The G+ was a series of video slot games that had relatively high volatility and free games as their bonus type.  The machine pictured appears to be originally a stepper cabinet (small 6 inch monitor on the bottom right side above the player's round rebet button.  Then it appears to have gotten dual wide screens installed, which is usually done in BB1 to BB2 homegrown cabinet conversions.  If I had to guess, it is a converted stepper cabinet to a dual screen bb2 conversion.  If the mpu inside is a CPUNXT2, then you have a bb2 conversion cabinet with an Extra bet button deck (although I cannot be sure if all the necessary parts are installed for the extra bet function to work).  We would need photos of the insides of the machine, both the main section and the door side.

Thanks for the reply. It does indeed have a CPUNXT2. So its likely a BB1 cabinet, with BB2 CPU? Is the button panel going to be an issue? It has Jungle Wild 3 software in it, not that it means anything. The screens are not original as you say. It boots up, low battery error. The upper screen displays the top box graphic, the lower screen get to the configuration in progress screen and displays a "call attendant" message and just sits there. Pictures will be forthcoming.

When you open the door, what other messages do you get moementum?
You can also press the white configuration button and see if there's any more messages in the top right corner of the bottom screen.

oh...the regular buttons you have on that deck work for a LOT of the WMS games.....you don't always need the expensive OLED buttons....they're all old anyways and going to dim out and blacken soon as they're reaching the end of their lifetime expectancy....that's why it's good to have the button deck you have.

You won't be able to do much until you replace the batteries inside the mpu. I belive they are CR-2032's for the CPUNXT2 MPU's.  If you don't have a clear card, you need to get one.  I usually replace the batteries with the unit powered down, but some folks replace them while the power is on to avoid re-doing the setup procedure on the machine, just make sure you put them back in the right orientation, pay close attention to the way the battery is facing so you can put the new one back the same way.  If you do replace the batteries while powered, you may (or may not, not entirely sure) need to power cycle the machine for the low battery error to go away.  If you replace batteries with power off, then you need to clear the machine and setup the software.  There are many youtube videos on how to do that.
