S+ Coin Accounting
« on: May 17, 2022, 01:32:59 PM »
Okay, I'm having an friendly argument with a buddy who really has a hard head.... :fryingpan: :banghead: haha!

We know that the S+ has an internal accounting system and his quarter tokens go into a bucket under the machine called the "drop bucket".

He's using an SP1274.
His machine uses quarter tokens only for credits....no bill validator.

These are example amounts>>>

01 Coins In=100
02 Coins Out=50
04 Drop=50
06 Amount of Jackpots in Coins=1,000
His hopper is set to pay out no more than a 600 coins so it had to be keyed off with the reset key...it wasn't a "jackpot"....just a larger win.

The math I think is...>>>

01-02+04-06= -900 credits/tokens or negative $225.00 in total right?

He says we do not need to use the drop number to find out how the machine is doing.
He believes that he only needs to use three...>>>
"IN"
"OUT"
and "AMOUNT OF JACKPOTS IN COINS" numbers in the internal accounting to figure that out.

I think he needs to use the 04 Drop(coin) number, as well as 05 Canceled credits (hand-paid cash out) number?

You would not factor the drop into your math.

100 in - 50 out = 50 (retained by the machine) - this is regardless if they go to the bucket or the hopper.

Coin in is counted when the coins are inserted, if you win and the wins go to credit meter they are not considered coin out.
When you play credits they are also considered Coin in.
Only when you hit cash out are they considered coin out.

The (drop) bucket is designed to manage hopper overflow. More of a labor management tool for the casino.
A drop of 50 to the bucket is simply money not available in the hopper - drops are not always clean - (depending on the slot stand size and depth / width of bucket) and coins often spilled into the slot stand cavity. Casino workers were made to ensure the drop matched the meters.

If you subsequently scored a jackpot of 1000
You would have 100 in 1050 out..... a loss of 950...

A hand pay is not considered coin out unless there is a partial pay by the hopper prior to the hand pay.

With respect to coin handling - the casinos moved to TITO (ticket in / ticket out) not to prevent theft but for the labor savings in emptying the machines, counting, filling etc.
A $100 is 10x rolls of quarters.... Small enough I might be able to slip out in a backpack, too big to slip out in my pants pocket, relatively speaking not exactly a lot of money, certainly less than I would be willing to lose my job for, much less go to jail for. ....

The soft accounting that was greatly improved between the 731 and 1271 keeps track of many such things in more detail than they physical meters.

okay...now...what about "re-fills" when the hopper is too low to finish a payout?
How does that affect the count and the bottom line?  :scratch-head_3:
He throws in one cup of tokens to re-fill an empty hopper...which is about 700 pcs.

Bunk you need to start a post like that with a stirring the pot Icon :stirthepot: :stirthepot:

The answer is it doesn’t impact any of the math.
Assuming everything started at zero -
What’s put in the machine as seed money is considered the float.
If you put in a cupful you would have that pre - counted and deducted from what’s left.

If you were doing an audit
Assume the hopper max - set by dip Switch - is 400
You seed the machine with 400 coins.
100 in, 50 out means you now have float (400) + 50
The coin out is still 50 and the hold is 50.

You know me...I'm always  :stirthepot: :rotfl:

Okay.
I think that you're in agreement that all he needs is...>>>

01 Coins In
minus 02 Coins Out
minus 06 Jackpot Reset in Coins

Divide everything by 4 to get a dollar amount total to find out what the machine is doing?
