CDS On The Money - Coin drops in the chute but not the hopper

Does anyone know how to change the setting on the CDS? The coins is not going in the hopper. It goes to the other chute basket

My answer isn't specific to CDS, so if there is something else, I hope others chime in. 
Coin machines have a circuit that detects a full hopper and diverts coins to the overflow chute that leads to the machine stand.  On most it has a wire that is on the hopper bin, isolated on metal bins of course. When the coins make contact with this, it completes the circuit and diverts.  I have seen this wire connected back to ground which bypasses the hopper bowl .
Worth a look at least.
