Power off the machine and make sure your MPU is installed properly and fastened down tight.

Is this a bb2 cabinet or a bb1 cabinet that was converted.  I would make sure the DVI cable is connected to the main screen and it is not loose.  Did you buy the machine fully shopped or parts complete?

Refastened it. Same issue. Is it possible I have the wrong clear card?   Or is it something else?

Not the card.. Although that isn't OEM.

Make sure the monitor cables are snug on both the MPU and the monitor itself.

Checked all connections on monitors still no change. It is definately a bb2, I bought it from a reputable dealer so I assume it should be complete. The had to send the game I wanted separately from another branch so the machine came without the game preloaded. I notice one connection that is not plugged in that says spn

The oled buttons don't light up either if that means anything?

I suspect an MPU problem if the deck isn't coming on either.  The OLED deck is USB connected to the MPU.  Is it connected?

The oled deck sometimes shows nothing until the game starts booting and the MPU detects the deck.  The picture he posted showed that the MPU is getting power.  Check to make sure the memory simm is inserted correctly on the mpu.  I would remove it and re-install the memory simm.  If that doesn't do it.  I would remove and re-install the MPU, sometimes they get loose during shipping.  Is the reputable dealer not providing you with tech support to get your machine fired up?

Yes it is connected. I guess I'll have to call the dealer on Monday I don't know anything about WMS machines.

I got out of these some time ago so forgive me.  You stated the fan on the cpu is not running-The one mounted on there were the processor is?  Also It is not good for these to be open and running without the metal cover on the cpu as the fans cannot pull the air on the internal componets in there.  A burnt processor would exhibit all the symptoms you stated.

And the clear card is in the OS slot and not the Game slot right?

Barry is correct with the behavior of a bad CPU.  Erratic or no fan movement in addition to no video can be an MPU failure.  I've seen that same thing before.

I notice two fans on the mpu  one located on the side (working). One located on the board by the memory simm (not working). When the machine arrived it had no mpu cover so I called and had them send one to me. I removed and reinstalled the memory simm and reseated the mpu still no change. With it being the weekend the dealer is not open till Monday and I was just hoping to get it running

From my memory,  There is a fan mounted directly on the processor -the processor is embedded on the main board.  They usually have a heat sink on them (most look like aluminum fins).  Also in between this connection di-electric paste/grease is used.  These were notorious for the fan failing and burning up the processor--again from my memory.  You will probably need another bb-2 cpu unless there is something I missed in your posts.

Make sure the power supply is getting power properly from the distribution area at the bottom rear under the backplane.  Sometimes the mains  120v  power cords work a bit loose and they can cause these symptoms when you switch power on.  Power supply is bottom right side under the validator  cash box area.

Also,  does the Bill Validator light up briefly when you turn the power on?

The power supply is snug.  However, the first time I removed and reinstalled the power cord the lower screen was a white colour and th did not say no signal. The bill validator has a constant red light on and the ticket printer makes sounds and has a green light on

Did this machine work at all when you first got it?  I noticed you asked about the Dongle location and seemed happy to have that solved.

So did the game ever boot for you at all??

Sounds like a bad video card.

Is the black thing on the video card a heat isolator?  It is not attached properly the plastic pins with springs are snapped off

Sorry here is the photo. No evidence of burnt chips on the card.

If there are pieces broken off that fasten the heatsink down properly, yeah, the video card might be toast.

What I'm not sure of, is if a smoked video card would prevent the OLED deck from firing up.  That's why I was thinking processor or the MPU in general since your OLED deck didn't come on either.

Thanks,
Jason

My sales rep has been in contact with me. She is very considerate and concerned and I have no doubt that she will make things right. I think it is the video card but I am concerned that given the fact that the CPU fan is not working that perhaps overheating is really the issue

sometimes the adastra board comes loose during shipping.  Try putting some pressure downward on the board to make sure it has a good connection and try again.  I had a friend had a similar issue with a non-responsive bb1 mpu, he shipped to me and I just removed and re-installed the adastra board and it fixed his issue.

Where do I find that board?

When you turn the machine on do the OLED buttons glow slightly? They should before they light up.  Also, if the USB cable is not connected they won't light up at all, just slightly glow.

As for the video card, without the pins they must have used adhesive to keep it attached to the processor, which is not recommended.

Also, the fan on the processor heat sink is temperature controlled so when the machine is first turned on it usually takes a few seconds for it to start up.  If it isn't starting up after 30 seconds that means the entire unit is most likely defective........or are you sure that the unit is locked down on the backplane?  There is a lever below the unit at the bottom right corner, hard to see, make sure it's pulled down all the way.

Rick, the Adastra board is held is place with 5 screws, doubt it is loose unless the screws are missing.

See message below concerning missing chips.

Sorry here is the photo. No evidence of burnt chips on the card.

Looking at that photo I just realized you are missing the Jurisdiction chip at U4 SP1, is there a chip in the U2 BIOS socket?  Post a photo.

Nothing in U2 bios.

Without those chips the machine will be dead.  Makes me wonder how they tested it before they shipped it.

I agree.  Methinks there wasn't any testing done.

Yep,  Very good catch once again Jeff.  The machine is dead and will not do nothing until you have the bios and jurisdiction.  Then at that point it will be pot luck if it even works then-given that someone would send you a bare brain box. I try not to get into that much anymore as you may have payed little to nothing for this.  Hopefully you will get it resolved with your rep. you got this from.  Sounds like a drop ship, Cram and jam deal to me.

Please let us know who you got this from so we can avoid them in the future!!
