Title: New Cherry96 sound problem
Post by: Ron (r273) on January 31, 2021, 02:44:55 PM
I have an old Cherry96 Special Edition by AMCOE that has never had any sound. My other games do have sound.
Wonder if I can try something to fix it. Don't want to spend on a new game board which are about $350.00 on up.

What is the VR2 pod?

Here is a pic.  :thank_you:

VR2 is 1K

Assuming that there is +12V on pin 8 of the Amp and none of the pins are broke or any broke traces on the PCB,
and caps C9, C13, C25, C29 and VR2 are good.

Without access to a scope to check for signal at pin 1 of the audio amp or a signal generator,
you could try injecting a line level audio signal from a CD player or other device.
Or replace the amp IC with a know good one
