I'm working on a Bally Rapid Double 6000 slot. I've changed the battery, done complete clear with U28 and U43 safe ram clear chips and the machine will not accept coins or bills.
Display with door closed has dots after first and second digits which I believe is ok since it's been reset. Dip switches are set for correct DBV.
This issue may just be a setting I don't have set correctly. I've been through all 11d settings and it all seems to be right (to me).
I'm running out of things to try, looking for advice on what to check next. Any help appreciated.

The coin mech switch on the front of the MPU in the up position?

Yes, it's in the up position.

Make sure you have a valid jurisdiction, I suggest all switches on ds2 on. Also make sure that your denim is set correctly $.25 should be 1,2& 4 off for 3,7,8 must be on, plus adjust 5,6 for bill accepted. You do not need to set any 11d settings after clear, default settings will work just fine. If you change any dipswitch settings clear it for them to take.

I followed your recommendations and the game will not accept coins or bills. It almost appears that the bill validatior isn’t powering up now. With the door closed, here is the display. Is there an error code here I’m not seeing?
It’s possible I’m doing something wrong clearing, I’m doing a compete clear using safe clear u28 u43 chips. I turn on ds1 #8 to on while doing the complete clear.

Definitely won’t work with that error code. Are you getting a chc and then clc when you are clearing? 55 error is a bill accepter error so make sure your cash can is in firmly. Does the bill accepter spin and setup? You can disable the bill accepter by turning ds2 5&6 on and do a clear. See if it will work on coins only?
-
What bill accepter do you have in machine? Pic if you are not sure.

It's a JCM/WBA 10/11. I know it's not updated but it should still accept $1's.
What's got me stumped is that it won't take coins or bills.

Maybe a weak power supply?

Set ds2 5&6 to on and complete clear, this should get rid of the 55 error and disable bill accepted. See if it will work with coins.

I’ll give it a try.

Ok, I cleared the machine and now have 23 error. The manual says something about ds 2-8=off.

I turned Ds2-8 to on, did another clear and the 23 error went away. Unfortunately I’m still unable to get a coin to register.

Put a new coin in the coin comparitor. On the coin comparitor, turn the pot adjustment fully CCW.

Finally some progress! I changed the quarter, and changed the pot adjustment fully counterclockwise and it will now take coins and play. Next I need to move on to the bill validator and see if I can get that going. So it looks like I change dipswitch settings and do another clear if that sounds right.

Does the bill validator cycle when you turn the machine on? Need to have a working BV and then set the dip switches and do a clear

No, the bill validation does not cycle when game is powered up. I’ll recheck connections on the BV and backplain board next.

Can you post a picture of the BV?

I double checked all connections, still no power to the bill acceptor.

With the BV installed, looking on the right side, do you see 2 red LEDs lit up ?

Sorry for my delayed response, yes the red lights are lit up on the BV. I’m wondering, since the BV was shut off on dip switches, is this why it won’t cycle? Unfortunately I don’t have another BV that’s compatible with this machine to test.

Set your dip switches for JCM WBA and do a clear

I didn’t report back on this issue. I took the BV and put it in another machine, the issue was the bill validation itself. Solved by putting a different BV in the machine.
