Alright now I’m hooked on this new hobby. I’m getting ready to pickup this Triple Diamond Saturday. The seller said he’s not sure if the ticket out works and said it has a Ram Error which should be an easy fix I hope. Not sure what the board is and would love to know more about it if anyone has that information.

Photo’s coming:

If anyone can see issues from these photo’s please let me know!!!
-
It's a 50X series MPU board and probably has a dead main battery causing the RAM error message. Hopefully it doesn't also have a dead varta battery that leaked and damaged the MPU board.
Looks to be a clean machine. The only thing I noticed is it is missing the the 5 line light bar that would go behind the reel glass and illuminate the number of lines being played. Machine will work fine without it though.
Hope it's just a simple fix for you.
-
I have a spare 504 board that I purchase for my other machines so hopefully that will work. Any idea who in this forum may have the light bar along with a coin comparator, hopper and coin tray.
-
Yes, that will work, but hopefully you won't need it. You can check with the vendors on the home page or post a WTB in the classified section for the bar and coin handling equipment.
-
Thanks, more to come once she’s at home!
-
Looks like there is not progressive display meter in the top glass window. Did you buy it thinking there would be a progressive meter in it?
-
Thanks Rick, I”m picking it up tomorrow knowing that there will be a few things that I need to add. I’ll add that to my list of things to buy. If there’s anything else please let me know.

I have a complete "coin in" setup which has the coin in head, bracket, diverter, optics, coin mech for IGT and hopper if interested.

How much?

I have a new s2000 Double diamond deluxe on its way.. welcome any advise and/or recommendations.
-
Congrats on that Double Diamond. Any pics of it yet?
-
Just got this pic today.
-
Nice machine…. Can’t wait for more pics!
-
The glass artwork seems yellowish, is it just glare? Double Diamond Deluxe is my all time favorite machine. I play it in casinos whenever I find one (which is getting more difficult to find). Sometimes dealers will install aftermarket glass as it is getting more difficult to find good glass for a hot theme like DD Deluxe, so they will print the artwork and attach it to plexiglass. You can tell original artwork because it is multi-layered printing with a glossy white backing. The aftermarket stuff is digital prints on thin stock paper which tends to yellow over time after continually being "cooked" by the fluorescent bulbs. If you paid premium price for the machine, I would insist in original factory glass artwork.

S2000 Triple Diamond Notes:
Original 50x MPU visual Indications
MPU Varta battery appears to have a burn on one strand.
MPU has multiple jumpers on the board
Board has two unknown chips above the Vision Chip
Powered up and received Ram Error, turned Jackpot Key 4 times followed by pressing test switch for 2-3 seconds. This gave me System Error that would not clear.
Installed known good 504 MPU configured the below. The SG/SB chips were from original board and the vision chip was from known good board.
SG0363 x2
SB001000
Vision Chip - VS011GX1
- Tried to Key with a 45 chip 3 times but could only get 1 amber instead of the 2 required
- Installed a 224 clear chip
- Re keyed and was able to get the 2 ambers
- Power up followed by Ram Error
- Turned Jackpot key 4 times and pressed the test switch 2-3 seconds.
- System went through and VFD said close Main Door
- Once the door is closed it goes into a flashing Call attendant / System Error
Parts Needed that I know of:
Coin In Set up
Hopper
NETPLEX board (I think)
Progressive board or what ever you call it that goes in the upper glass window
This is what I know so far and I’m not sure where to begin with this machine…. I would appreciate any help I can get!
-
Vision is a S2000 with a color monitor in the topbox. The chip you're referring to is the Version (VS) Chip.
Can you post pictures of the jumpers? One of the the unknown chips above the Version chip is probably the SS (S+ Reel) chip. Not sure what the other would be or where it would plug into. Please post a picture.
The SB001000 allows you to run most S+ games on a S2000 using the S+ reel chip. The reel chip has to be plugged in properly in the socket too or it will not work. I'll see if I can find a post a picture of one installed properly.
-
I would junk the SB01000/SS reel chip combo and just get the S2000 native base chip for that game SB100230. You get all the payout percentages available and have less chips to worry about.
-
I would recommend that too, but his is a 5L not a 9L, and as far as I can tell the 5L version was never ported to a S2000 SB.
-
Here's a picture of how the SS chip needs to be be installed in socket U17. The socket is a 32 pin and the SS chip is a 28 pin so the top 4 pins are empty.
-
Here’s pics of the jumpers on the board and the chip that’s next to the VS (Version Chip).Hopefully you can see and zoom in.
I will get rid of the SB01000 chip and the SB100230. My goal is to get this machine back to original as much as possible. Am I correct to say that I’m missing the NETPEX distribution board in the upper compartment? If so does anyone have the PN?
-
That looks OK to me. The chip above the version is the S+ reel chip and it's installed correctly in the photo. The jumper wires are factory, so no worries there. I'd ditch the varta battery right away.
You can't get away from the SB001000/S+ reel chip for that game theme. It's an original S+ game and was never ported to a S2000 SB chip.
You don't need a netplex distribution board in topbox unless you intend on installing a netplex device that needs it up there. If you're planning on installing a spectrum progressive then you'll need it. Otherwise I can't think of anything that would require it.
If you have another S2000 I would remove the SB chip from it and install it on this MPU. Remove the SS chip too. Then put it in the machine and see if after going through the RAM error/EEPROM errors you can get it to boot completely.
-
I’ll remove the Varta battery but just quick look over the board it appears that there might be a burn condition above the battery.
So my other 504B board will not work in this machine correct?
I have a spare SB100136 chip and your recommending removing my SB001000 installing the 136 into my S+ board and also remove the SS chip?
Eventually I will want to install a spectrum Progressive and will need the NETPLEX Distribution board but for now I just want to get this machine running.
-
Can this be converted to accept my 504 board?
-
Sure, if you have a working 504 board use that. 50X series boards are all interchangeable. Just transfer all the software chips from the board you got with this machine to it. That's the base, SGs, VS, and the SS. Put it in the new machine, clear the errors, and hopefully it boots up.
-
Before I remove the Varta battery I took a pic and my guess the damage is already done to the board. Correct me if I’m wrong.
-
I've seen worse, but it's hard to say. Remove it, clean up the acid and see what it does.
-
Did you try your 504b MPU in your new machine yet?
-
So I put the 504 board in and cleared / keyed the board. Once I powered up with the SB001000 in it went through the expect boat up with Ram Error, Hold test switch and the reel actually spun for me and it went into the Config 7 setup but I was unable to change anything. It was like I was still in the attendant mode. I re-keyed it and again everything booted up and once you get to Close Main Door my VFD is displaying Call Attendant, Closure M and Main Battery Low. I’ guessing the closure M is because the door main door hasn’t been by passed but I’m not sure about the Main Battery Low.
-
Replace the battery. You will not make any progress until you do.
-
I’m assuming your talking about the coin battery on the back right corner of the MPU?
-
Yes that is the main battery.
-
I’ll do that tomorrow.
-
Alright we’re heading down the right path to progress. I’ve have all the chips from the S+ board over to the 504 board and replaced the battery. The machine powered up property. I loaded the denomination and machine type in and everything looks good. The machine take bill but the BV sounds like a sick cow. I did notice it when it boots up the the BV sounds very sick. I tried to Cashout and with no hopper it gave me a coin out Jam. I’ll go back in and check the printer settings and make sure it’s on and then run a printer test. So this is what I’m going to need and if anyone has these parts please let me know. I’ll also go into the NLG Classifieds to find these parts:
Machine - 2002 Triple Diamond S+
Complete Coin in setup
Hopper
NETPLEX Board for upper cabinet
Spectrum progressive
-
I’ll also need a BV

You have a WBA validator, they are kind of old. Unless you can find a NOS unit, they are all going to sound kind of tired in my opinion. You can improve it a bit, by cleaning and lubricating the various shafts that have gears on them as sometimes just dirt and grime get baked in and create a lot of friction making the motors stress. If you just want to get another wba and not try to clean, try and find one with the red motors on them, they have a bit more torque than the original green variety and are usually newer, thus increasing your chances of getting one that is decent.
The next best (in terms of price) solution is to get an MEI unit, but you will have to replace the entire bill cage, so it will cost you more money, but the MEI's sound better and take your bills a lot faster.
After those are the UBAs (which will run you $150+ for a whole setup) then the ivizions ($200+). It's probably overkill for an s2000 though. I rarely ever use the validator for anything, just put credits using free credit option in TITO system.
-
Rick I’m going to start with cleaning the unit and if the doesn’t work move to the MEI. Any thoughts on the spectrum Progressive unit?
-
Somebody just went through that recently. I have never setup a progressive using SB001000 and SS chip, though it probably works. I would wait and see if somebody who has done it can chime in before you spend the money. You would only need the display plus the harness, and possibly a mounting bracket if you can find it. Does the back of the glass have like a wooden frame behind the progressive window? (that was the way the progressive display used to attach to them back in the early days).
