What do I do if my machine is saying main battery low an I have already switched out the main coin battery with a new one is this when I would use key chip 28? I have an 044 board any help would be appreciated thanks
-
Did you replace with the correct battery? Keychip will not do any good.
-
this is posted in the s2000 forum, but an 044 is an I-Game/Game king board. We need to know what you have. Is the green varta battery still installed?
-
Yes the battery was installed I just removed the green varta battery, it is saying all of this when I start it then I follow the steps of turn the key, hold for 2-3 seconds an so forth
-
depending on the board and the software sometimes the varta needs to be on the board. There is a board modification you can do, it's not difficult. do a search for 044 battery modification. You can also replace the dead varta with a new one and that should do the trick.

Those pics are too small to read the errors. They are 320x240 and you are allowed 1000x1000. You must also remove U24 if you remove the varta battery.
-
I am unable to read the messages on your screen. Pics too small, sideways and somewhat blurry. However, I see nothing related to the telltale battery so the Varta should not be an issue. If you removed it yourself, the U24 also needs to be removed or at least clip the pins. You might just need to key chip and set it up depending on what message is on your screen in the first picture. I recommend using a GKBDEV39 boot chip but it's not mandatory. It has clear and key chip features built in and you can turn off SHA & DSA checks for fast booting, all nice features. There is no need to remove and replace the chip to perform any of those functions making your KEY00028 and current boot chip pretty much obsolete. I assume you used the correct main battery, CR2354? I see from your profile you are in Texas.
I'm in Arkansas. PM me if I can help you.

Yes I replaced with the cr2354, but I am still getting the same errors that’s why I’m asking if chip 0028 will help or what other steps i need to take thanks again I’ll post the pictures again hopefully they will enlarge
-
Test your CR2354. Sometimes a new one can be bad. They are usually about 10% over rated voltage when new and when they get down to about 90% you will get an error. A key chip will not fix a battery problem but could be required after a battery change. I see nothing indicating that.
-
Ok thank you I’ll try it in the morning
-
Battery installed positive side up?
-
Battery installed positive side up?
Yes
-
So the battery made the game work however I can’t set everything without having to key chip it, now I’m getting a bill validated error which I know why I’m having problems getting it to connect correctly
-
Getting this message now
-
Try clearing the CRC mismatch. Setup-Machine options
-
How would I do that exactly?
-
Push the self test button on the mpu. Then touch setup->machine options->peripheral devices setup. Then clear bv crc.
-
Will the same type of validator work in all the machines an if so does it have to be reset to that machine, I think that’s why I’m having the problem all the validators got mixed up
-
Yes and no. IGT S2000/I-game validators use ID-024 and netplex communications. Bally/WMS use ID-003 and RS-232 communications. So if you put a Bally validator in an IGT machine it won't work. But if you took a validator out of a S2000 and put it in an I-game it will work. You may get a Bill Validator CRC mismatch if the firmware versions are different between the two validators. If you do then you need to follow the directions above to clear the mismatch.
-
Ok thanks for the help
-
Do these validators have a battery on them or anything I finally got one machine working but my problem is with these validators
-
No, they do not have any batteries. What type of problem are you having with them? They look to be WBA-12s and may have old firmware.
-
They just will not do anything they will make the sound they make when plugging them in an then that’s it, it won’t accepted anything an the green lights will not come on
-
Does it give you a BV comm error message too, you had that on the one screen, but a CRC error too. If you don't have a comm error you can try to see what firmware in flashed to it by pressing the self test button, then accounting, and then program version accounting. After 30 seconds or so the screen will populate with data and should show a software version for the validator.
-
This is what it shows on first page
-
The firmware is current and the protocol is correct (ID-024) for an S2000/I-game. Check the dip switches, they should be all off.
-
Where do I check the dip switchs
-
They are on the right side of the transport under the head.
-
???
-
You can see them in this picture. They're easier to access through the side though.
-
Ok thanks
