Title: S+ code 3100 hopper issue
Post by: Phan000 on April 16, 2022, 05:35:27 AM
Working on an early model s+

Pays out fluidly, but throws code 3100 at end of payout.

Thinking it is overpaying due to clutch.

How do I address this issue?

Your brake pawl spring is too weak.
This allows one extra coin to slip past the hopper optics and fall out into the coin tray, sending the over-count of coins error message [3100] to the display.

Tighten the spring in your photo by cutting off one complete turn of the spring.
With a pair of needle-nosed pliers, fashion a new curl to catch the hopper brake pawl loop.
Now your newly shortened spring will have enough tension to pull the brake pawl tight against the two shaft nibs, to stop it from turning.

Also make sure the brake mechanism is lubricated and moving feely as due to age the lube dries up and the mechanism does not react quickly enough. Has a delayed reaction causing errors.

Did both recommendations.

Works great.  Thanks!

Some of these S+ machines are over 30 years old.
They need to be serviced!  :rotfl:
Glad you got it going!  :cool_thumb_up:
