I tried swapping out the hopper with another hopper that works. I power up the machine reels spin, the machine dings then 3300 code appears. Do I need to use a clear chip?
-
[3300] means the hopper is empty.
Does your machine have to pay out a win?
That error gets cleared if your door optics work.....just close the door and it should go away.
It WILL come back if your machine needs to pay out a win of some sort.
Just add some coins to the hopper and let it pay out.
Finally, yes...you CAN clear it with a clear chip....but are you going to use a clear chip every time you get a win? lol

I swapped out another hopper with coins, the first hopper had coins also. Still 3300 code I used a clear chip. The machine worked OK until I hit a payout, the hopper did not even try to payout. Got the 3300 code again.

You hit a winner and it needs to finish the payout.
BUT...you say it "did not even try to payout".
That sounds like there's a communication problem between the MPU and the hopper right?
Open the door and run the 10 coin hopper test.
Please...put that Clear chip away...it does N-O-T-H-I-N-G for you.

Where can I find how to do the hopper test?
-
Press test button until you get a 3 in coins played window. Flick the jackpot key one time and hopper should pay out 10 coins.
-
The female hopper plug mounted on the floor of the cabinet which the hopper mates with, check the wire connections on the backside of that connector.

I'm having the same exact problem with my triple diamond. I also tried a second working hopper with no results.
It was suggested to check the Solid state hopper relay, but I'm not sure how it is wired or how to test it?
