Title: Coin Comparator

Not sure what to try next......trying to get a machine up & going........it won't accept coins, just drops em straight on thru.....insert coins lite does come on...........have tried other known same comparators with same results......have tried this machines comparator in other machines and works aok.........I can get credits if I push the lil test button on bottom of coin mech and machine will play.....still learning about these units and not sure what is next logical move

what kind of slot   igt/bally , sure its set to take coins? not in coinless mode?

to see if the insert coin lamp is good, swap it with the denom. lamp if it is working. its on all the time as soon as power is applied.  do the coins drop to the coin tray or to the hopper. if the coin tray: you probably have a harness /power problem. check the harness that plugs into the left side of the CC-16, make sure none of the wires are broken or other. Have seen where the wire looks connected,however the wire is broken inside the insulation.  if the coin goes into the hopper:  probably bad coin optics. I have a quick fix for that.

Thanx  Jim...........it is IGT. s+. Double wild cherry 3 coin quarter.....coins are dropping to coin tray so I will investigate harness

and after you do that and if it still doesn't work ..
 
replace the sample coin
 
turn the pot in the lower right of the comparitor to positive then back to negative
 
and if all that fails .. it is most likely in the comparitor

Solved.......cash box wire cut........spliced & bypassed switch.....aok works
