Title: Adding Haywire to a D.D., 2CM S2000
Post by: 69sixpackbee on August 23, 2016, 10:16:25 AM
Hi again, folks,
I have been reading a lot of interesting stuff here and it takes most of my free time! :)

Anyway, I would like to convert my newly acquired, plain Jane Double Diamond 2CM S2000 machine to the Haywire because it will spruce up a basically boring game. I have been reading that I basically have to swap out the existing chips and add the game Chip and the Reel chip for Double Jackpot Haywire. Is this basically all tat I need to do? I will just leave the glasses for now and just want the functionality of the game. I too want to add the backlighting to mine by virtue of the reels (I have the strips already--all identical and not different numbered ones) the controller and the harness. I want to add the add-on sound board and "42" SIMM for the sounds as well.
Is this pretty much the jist of it?
Thanx again for a super informative forum!!

Bud

You got it Bud. SB001000, SS chip for DJH (needs to be 120ns or faster). A DSV00042 is a must have IMO for a Haywire. I have the chips if you need them.

Do they not have a dedicated SB chip on S2000 for that theme?

Yes but you need to use DDH reel strips or offset regular DD strips (not recommended). They usually won't stay tight after doing that. Using the DJH SS chip requires no mod to strips.

Don't you also loose the funky Haywire S2000 effects if you just use the SS reel chip and not the DDH base?

Not if you use a SIMM with enhanced settings.

Huh, I will have to give that a try.  I always thought using the DJH ss chip, would just mimic the S+ haywire behavior, not the haywire s2000 reverse spin effects.

Or get a second set of DD strips, offset them, pick up a Wild Thing game chip and sound SIMM, and you can do this:

I always set my DD Haywire up like this as an alternative to the DSV00042.

Thanks,
Jason
