All,
I have what was a working Tabasco Reel-Touch machine that no longer boots. It just stalls at "Initializing, Please Wait"... Multiple times I waited over 20 minutes, but no boot and no further errors reported. Has someone come across this before? I have reseated connectors and such, but still no boot! Normally it will give me some sort of error to go off of, but not this time!
Any ideas?
Thx!

Rob,
The problem appears to be in the lower unit as the top box appears to be booting fine.
The VFD is showing an issue. It should start off saying testing the memory like yours does then it should transition to waiting for display. Have you tried reseating the MPU and checking the coin battery voltage. Need more information. Is it a 500 series board or enhanced? If it is enhanced has the mod been done to remove the Varta battery? ( if it's a 500 series I'm assuming it's already been removed). If you have not turned it on in a long period of time and it has an enhanced board with the Varta still in place you might just try leaving it on for a few hours to charge the battery and then try recycling the on/ off switch and see if the lower video says something different.

Have you checked the cmos battery in the top box computer?

Top box looks like it is working as it is getting to initializing.
But it not a bad idea to check that battery also.

Thanks for the info everyone. I go back this weekend to take another look at it. I'll measure voltage up top.
Sounds like I may need to clear and start over. If that don't work I'll try another board. It currently has a 504B board and the coin battery was replaced and is good.
I'll report back!

I don't think it's in the top box. The Varta battery on the MPU is more likely the issue.

504 board probably not the Varta either. MPU is suspect although I would try a clear before replacement.

Any update?

Sorry it took so long to reply. I had to swap out the MPU board. An old green battery on the 504 boards leaked and ate some traces... :hissyfit:
Installed a newly refurbed 502 board, cleared, setup and wallah! All good!
Thanks again for the assist!
