Title: newbie saying hello
Post by: dickie9876 on February 24, 2019, 10:24:55 PM
I just wanted to say hello and introduce myself.  Have owned machines my whole life but never had to mess with them until now.  I will try to post my questions in proper area of forum.I will try to post pics below and hope it works.  Regardless I will chat with some of you I am sure in the other areas of the forum.  Reading this forum has been huge help already. Thank you all!

Currently I have 2 machines:
Games of Nevada silver dollar slot machine made in 1965 I think.  Takes silver dollars on top half of machine and Susan B Anthony coins on top of door.  Interesting machine.

and an old 19" upright Game King that has 31 games on it with a DBV-200 bill validator.

I'd love to see more of that Games of Nevada machine. Can you post pictures of inside, both door and main interior?
Can you also post a photo of the tag on the right lower side, if it's there.
I'm curious if this machine started out as large and small dollars. I think the Susan B was first minted around 1979.

Here are some pics of inside and door.  You are correct. This machine was made in 1977.Let me know if you want any more pictures of anything.  Does anyone happen to have a manual or something on a machine like this?

Hmm, so the hopper is for small coins, how do the ike sized dollar coins re-fill?  Do you have to feed them manually?

There is a tray with a conveyor belt that takes the silver dollar coins to the right which then drops them down to the hopper.  This is the way I believe it is suppose to happen.  My family has had this machine for like 35 years and I seem to recall my dad saying he changed the hopper or something like that because the way it is set up now it would pay the Susan coins and the silver dollars would just fall into the slot next to hopper to be collected below.  I could be wrong at maybe it has always been set to pay the Susan coins.
I powered machine on last week and the hopper immediately started spinning to do a payout and a penny was jammed in the knife so stopped spinning.  I turned it off, but now when I turn on machine I get no lights or anything, but I can hear a slight hum like it is getting power somewhere.

I'd pull out the hopper and check for any other jams or anything bent. Can you shoot a picture of the hopper?

here are some pics of the hopper.  I just remembered too that my dad didn't add the ability to take the Susan dollars, he changed it to take quarters.

Were you able to check the hopper closely?

Here's an entire thread mostly on your Games of Nevada machine from the old NLG site.  There's some very interesting information here. And I looked up Mickey Wichinsky. He made it to age 90.

Thanks shortrackskater for the link to that info.  Much appreciated.  I am going to really look through the machine this week for any fuses that may have blown or wires that came disconnected to explain why it isn't running now.  Hopefully I find something.  I will keep you posted.

I find the sign interesting: This machine is percentaged to payback more to the player.

I assume that means "…to pay back more to the player *than an average slot machine*" So, would it pay back like 98 percent, rather than 95 percent? It can't possibly pay back more than 99%!
