Title: What is the best way to break the cam locks
Post by: MacGUYver on May 30, 2019, 09:30:26 PM
I'm sure one of you has the awesome elite way to do this.  Picked up two slots,. Both had "no keys". The first one popped open easy, cam lock had a normal key insert but with a flat head I pried it open enough for the metal slab to pop off and it opened easy.  The second one has a round tumbler, was super difficult.  I ended up bending thr frame a bit, and messed up the cosmetic look a tad and obviously it's harder to close the door.

What's the best method to pick or pry these locks?

Is there a master key set for all on ebay? Quick look didn't pull it up.  Do you have a preferred angle of attack?  Drill Onthe hole? What bit?. The second one, I pried it open, and with a second flat head popped the end of the lock off.  The damn bill validator box is all mangled now too.

So how do you all do it?

I'm back in the game with these too, just working through the battery issues now.  Igt tobasco, had to transport it flat with about 200 tokens inside.  O though I got them all when I powered up...until o heard the pop. Luckily nothing got fired, several tokens we're still wedged in between an io board.  Wow!

The easiest way to remove a cam lock when you have no key is by drilling it. You might first want to surround the lock head with a few layers of painters tape to prevent accidental scratches.

If it is a tubular key lock, center punch it first as close as close to center as possible. Next using an electric hand drill, drill a hole approx. 3/32" diameter followed by 1/4".   The smaller hole serves as a pilot to help guide the larger drill and doesn't have to be very deep.
